A CB360 Tracker Rookie build

It's about dang time, bud. If it's not raining, I'm going to work a little more on the fiberglass at lunch. Then the evening will be spent on electrical. I still haven't come up with how I want to mount the taillight, but I should be able to at least the the ignition rerun tonight. Hopefully I can test fire it with the new battery ASAP.

Frickin' rain is getting old. I started going through the list of stuff I need to finish, and it's a lot of little things. Nothing a long day off work couldn't fix, but I still need to get some parts ordered.

I got everything but the lights wired up after work tonight. Any if anyone was wondering, a Honda twin will fire with a .8AH battery. So, she's back in the runner status.

Cool beans. I think the other 350 I have will end up with one of those.

For anyone still following this thread, I haven't had much to share lately. I finished wiring up the lights, rebuilt the front brake, replace the petcock, fixed the fiberglass work to the best of my abilities, handed the tail and tank off to a pro for final body work and paint, and sent a pan to the upholstery shop with instructions for a cushy tuck and roll cover. Yesterday I hit a wall at the DMV over some shizzle about the lack of title scenario. Recent law changes mean I'm headed for a bonded title. Will I get it before the ride? Anybody's guess. But I'm more informed now, and I won't be waiting until the last minute to file paper work again. I'll post pics as soon as I get the tins in my possession.

Met my buddy at Turner Bend to pick up my freshly painted goodies. That place is pretty nice. We ended up hanging out, eating lunch, and BSing for a few hours on the Mulberry River since we were there. Right after we finished eating I got up to throw my trash away, and I hear my buddy's wife scream. I turned around, and he's saying something about a moth on his back very calmly. His wife is freaking out swearing a bat just latched on to the back of his shirt. I go to investigate, and sure enough a bat that we had apparently disturbed in the gazebo we were in had flown down from the roof and landed on his shirt. It was kind of cute until I got close to remove him. Those little bastards look evil when they show their teeth and start hissing. Anyway, when I got home I mounted the tank and tail, re-plumbed the fuel lines and fired it up. Looks like I've gotten a pretty steady oil drip from the alternator cover, and the left carb is backfiring a bit. I'll hit those tomorrow along with call to hassle the upholsterer about the seat. It looks pretty good, I must say. It's an Acura pearl white (eco friendly paint) with black stripes as an ode to the rattle can paint job from the previous iteration via the PO. I dig it. The pictures I took don't really do the pearl justice. Pics below:

Thanks, Scotty.

CA, I have similar concerns. There's only one bolt hole back there currently. I guess the other one was ground off or there wasn't one on the other side from the get go. I don't know. I haven't been up close and personal with any other 360 frames. My first thought and attempt was a side mount tail light and license plate. I fabbed up an L bracket out of some flat stock steel to use that same mounting location. It looked silly, so I scrapped it and came up with what's on there now. I like the way everything looks there, but I'm worried about it bouncing around and grabbing the tire. I used a lock washer, and the bracket is pretty dang solid. It vibrates pretty good with the bike running, though. And the tag plate attached to it vibrates a lot with it running. I don't have a good solution at present with my limited tools around. Easiest solution without having a welder at my disposal would be to drill into the frame hoop and bolt everything through it. I'm not crazy about that though.

Tracker looks sharp.A bit like a small tank Royal Enfield Interceptor with the small tank and desert racing bars.....

Thanks. That's a pretty sweet looking bike. I'm not sure how, but I don't think I've ever come across one of those in my wanderings yet. Gonna have to stick that in the inspo bin for later.

I think you can get a P style bracket that will fit your hoop out back. Use that to fasten where the tail light is. Does that make sense?

Are you talking about something like this:

I may be able to squeeze one (or two) of those between the frame hoop and the tail section. Not sure how much more awkward that's gonna look though. I guess at this stage it doesn't really matter.

Something like that. If you can get it over this weekend, I can weld on an extra tab to bolt to or we can make something that will bolt under the tail all clean like.

If I get the truck back this week, then I'll bring it up this weekend. That is - if you wife doesn't mind.

It's fine. I got some drywall, trim, paint, floor, etc. to do but I could use a few minutes away from all that.

If things start to look like I won't have enough time I'll let you know before Saturday.

I plan to try and get as much done this week as possible on the bathroom, so I have more time to ride this weekend.

Pulled the alternator cover this evening to fix an Earl leak. Turns out the cover I used from the CB350 cover still had an intact gasket on it and do did the mating surface on the starter cover on the bike. Gasket on gasket = no bueno. I cleaned them both off and installed a new gasket. Looks good. No apparent leaks from the cover now. Went to fire up the bike and the left plug fuel fowled. Grrr. I had it running and noticed it didn't sound right. Put my hand behind the muffler, and pffft out comes dirty fuel. I cleaned and dried the plug. Fired it up and it's backfiring a bit from the left side at idle. I fiddled with the pilot screw with it running, leaning it - still a pop : richening it - still a pop. I'm not sure if it's unused fuel igniting in the exhaust or otherwise. I'll probably pull the carbs tomorrow and make sure my the floats look nice and even and where they should be, and the jets aren't funked up. If that doesn't do it, I guess I'll check the valves and timing. I did take it for a ride around the neighborhood. The new, longer baffles still make quite a bit of racket. Reminds me of an ATV with an aftermarket exhaust. Oh well. That's not changing at this point. Based on the ride, I may end up putting the speedometer back on just so I have a rough guess at speed. Those big ol tires are gonna throw it off a bit, but being reasonably close to the speed limit would be nice since it's going to draw so much attention.
