A dot helmet that doesn't sit 18 feet off my head like the Great Kazoo?

Yeah me too. Mommy can shut the fuck up. It's not a fucking fashion statement. I have a house with 9 helmets in it. If I want reconstructive surgery on y nose it's my goddamn choice.

I'm asking because a helmet that sits like that buffets a lot. Has shitty venting. Rubs on the neck of my winter jacket etc etc.

It's about comfort, wind noise and preference. I want a helmet that protects me without flopping around.

I dig my Speed and Strength open face. Sits pretty low compared to other open face helmets I've tried and definitely looks cooler! http://www.jafrum.com/Shop-By-Brand/Speed-and-Strength/Speed-SS600-Restomod-Helmet

I tried this one on today and it sat really high. Felt like my ears were barely covered. I have a zox fighter pilot style that looks silly but does everything right. I can see out of it, it vents, doesn't run the collar, covers ears etc etc. but feels top heavy compared to the non-kazoo full face helmets I have.

<------ My 1986 bucket

DOT dont mean crap to me. Since the state took away our right to choose Ive been using the same half skid lid since 1986, when the law came to be. I ground half the foam out of a mushroom head half helmet, and you would not believe how many have tried to buy it from me. Its now in the closet retired.

My new 2014 is a JP Helmets half bucket, that is the most confy one Ive even worn. Their land pilot series are very retro.
The DOT sticker fell off when I pulled it out of the box. They are certified for use in Japan (the JP stand for).

After all the young whipper snappers telling me on forums that I will die if I dont use $900 full face.
Well 28 years of skid liding it, and Im still here, so I dont think much of them.

and the eye candy aint bad neither

My only regret is not buying the leather with red strip, I got just the plain black leather one.
Being that me Sporty is candy red, and so is my 500T

I finally got my Licks NovDot this week, and I LOVE IT. Felt a little weird around the ears the first few rides. Now that I'm used to it and its broken in a bit I totally dig it. Almost forget its there, and the best part is, its not massive! Im a small dude, and have a small head (helmet size S), and I am seriously pleased with this lid.

Dont mind the ugly 90s paint job, or DGR attire. Here's the only shot I have wearing the helmet.

Found one. Voss helmets. Good colors, sizing is dead on, interiors are premium. Very little kazoo to them but they are DOT even.

Best helmet I have, my Arai. Fits perfectly, well vented, light for a full face.

However, I wear a 3/4 lid most of the time. A bell. It doesn'T fit quite as well.

Wear the full face for real rides, the 3/4 for zipping around tiwn.

I disagree with the "if you don't wear an Arai/Shoei you'll die" bit. But, they are pricey for a reason. They are light weight, ventilated, with little wind noise.

It's all about the fit! I have a long narrow head and I have an Arai full face helmet that I can sleep in. The fit is near perfect.

I like the wind in my face. I've had some half shell DOT helmets that blew to the back of my head at 50 mph. I'm sure it looks stupid and it isn't going to do its job that way. I discovered a half helmet shaped like my head and it stays put at highway speeds. It's a Zamp that fits me. It may make me look like Kazoo, but that's how it is. I think it's tough to buy a helmet without trying it on.
