I'm pretty new posting here, been lurking getting ideas for my bike. I've ridden dirtbikes and the like before but this is my first real "street legal" bike. I did a few mods when I first got it, but after it stopped running I decided to strip her down and do a more complete build. I am rebuilding the engine and painting the frame currently.

If anyone has any idea on how to remove a sheared bolt that would be much appreciated, my countertaps have not been working for this one.
 
Where is the stuck bolt? If it's in the engine you may have to drill and helicoil it.
 
It's for the cam chain tensioner, I have tried to drill it for the tap but it seems like the metal is super hard, I'll keep drilling I guess and go the helicoil route.
 
Yeah, I have been there with a busted exhaust stud. Project looks really promising!
 
The tape is to keep the internals clean, I was thinking about painting the lower cases as well before I put the jugs and head back on since I have already painted them. Unfortunately I cannot weld a nut onto the bolt, I can post some more detailed pictures of my problem tonight.

what do you guys think of the color scheme? I plan on painting the tank and sidecovers green eventually. The enigne is flat black and white.

After seeing your frame white i think that you might need to do something with the rims and spokes as well, chrome is seeming to have less of a place since you stubbed your front fender and made it black and removed your rear.
 
Here's the problem. The tensioner bolt is snapped off I am drilling it out, but snapped one bit already. Any tips on drilling without a drill press?

Made some progress today, got all the wiring in, and made some new LED gauge lights.

It's been awhile since I've posted, life's been busy. If anyone is interested, heres some progress. I got the bike back together and riding around a little until I get my plates. I have noticed that it will run great on both cylinders when I start, but after a few minutes of hard riding one cylinder cuts out. I stop and then it runs fine again, do I have an overheating problem?

One easy to over look item is the vent on the gas cap. If your tank has been creamed or sealed, then the vent hole will be filled, eventually causing al cylinder to cut off. This process then leads to a wild goose chase chasing electrical gremins that do not exist, fuel starvation problems that disappear and spark/coil issues that can't be traced. Guess how I know this is possible.
 
Thanks for the help guys, I have checked the plugs, both are great color, I am going to check the timing, the idle is real rough as well so it may be coming from there. I will also clean up my gas cap as well, sounds like you had a fun time with your bike Joe.

I've also had a great time re-routing throttle cables, I had a real high idle before which may have been causing some overheating issues.
 
I fixed the timing this past weekend, almost 20 degrees off. She runs much better now. I am going to look for a new fuel cap as well, mine has about 35 years of dried gas on it, which I am sure would be impossible to clean. Plate should hopefully be here this week, so I'll be fully legal.
