these pics show a customers ex works aprillia v twin 142 bhp. being put into a manx frame. a much modded frame. there will be an extra top tube fitted once we know how much space the injection system takes up. there will be more bracing at the rear to accept a cbr 600 swingarm set up. with monoshock.

this should be quite a bike when finished uummmy:D

thing is georgous! It is a beast indeed. Very nice work. Just curious, what kind of a time frame are you looking at?

Interesting project but I'm not a fan of mixed era bikes. Technology difference between motor and frame are decades apart and neither was ever designed nor intended for the other. Also, where are you going to mount the radiator? Not knocking your skills, they are outstanding.

the customer has done a lot on the homework front.
rad will be a curved affair under the seat subframe.
battery will be a tight fit behind the engine low down...

mixed era!!

ok if it were mine i would keep it in the original frame. but it's people like this guy that help keep the art of customising alive.

and he will be racing it in the super twins.

Mixed eras indeed! That will be a very cool bike when it's rolling under it's own power.
I've got a fresh and heavily massaged TLR1000 engine carefully wrapped up in dry storage waiting for a chassis....
I really kinda like the idea of a 'bed with USD forks, round tube alloy twin shock swing arm and some nice Olins dampers.
Yeah...someday when I have more money to spend on toys.....sigh....

I love it! But a trellis frame, combined with your craftsmanship whould have been the way to go.

almost finished now as far as our part anyway.
customer will be finishing it.
rear suspension is a combination of
cbr 600 f swing arm
cbr 600 rr suspension unit with owner designed geometry.

seat subframe is just steel strips just to get a better idea of shape.
tank will be a 5 gallon ali manx which will lose about a gallon capacity due to air box.

yes the swing arm pivit is a long way from the gearbox sprocket.
but the customer was firm on his decision that the frame must keep the norton wideline look.

yes theres form over function. but if function always took prescedent over form then i guess there wouldn't be any harley davidson or chops or even cruisers.

thats great man.. love the strait top rails... the lines are insane... what you going to do for a tank? have you thought about a XS 750 with the indents woudl have a great mix of a vintage and sport bike look to it... or you making one? great work love to watch stuff like this!

can you please post a complete and detailed instructional video on your brazing techniques? Right down to rod size, O/A tip size and gauge readings. Better yet, can you just fly across the pond and show me first hand?

That is damn impressive welding work!

VERY impressive indeed! Your customer should have quite a screamer when she's all buttoned up. That is just a thing of beauty! If you get pics of the owner's progress or the finished product.... please, please, please post them up here! ;D

And for the Best Fabrication of a Hidden Radiator, the award goes to you guys. I'm impressed, the radiator mounting location is fantastic. Nicely engineered.

WHoah! Hold up...missed that the first time. What about road debris hitting that thing? will it be covered and if so, how well will it function?
