A question of Backpacks

Hey guys,

I'm going to chop my bike, and get rid of my saddlebags... I don't tend to use them much anyways, I prefer putting my stuff in a packsack/backpack. I destroyed my pack this year, I need to know WHO MAKES THE TOUGHEST BACKPACK IN THE WORLD?!?!?!

I looked through tactical supplies and mountaineering stuff, but finding one that fits my look (standard black) and is tough is a hard search..

any ideas?

Check out Bailey Works. Expensive but tough as shit. I've had one of their bags for 6 years now. Absolutely tough as nails.

Not sure what part of the world you are in but I have a Serratis pack from Mountain Equipment Co-Op and it has a lifetime gaurantee, I have had it through 7 years of University, 7 or more mountain top summits and lots of other hikes motorbike trips etc. and it still looks like the day I bought it. Best pack I ever bought. Check them out @ www.mec.ca They ship to the US as well.

Cheers,

Maritime

I may have to drop by MEC, since I am fat bugger, finding the right pack to fit me is a little tougher... The Baily stuff looks nice, but unless i can try one out, I doubt i would order it online.

If you want the best go with http://duluthpack.com/. Made in Minnesota since the 1800's and guaranteed for life. Go under the camp and hike heading and check them out.

You might want to look into the Maxpedition packs as well. I know a few guys that have them and say they would buy anything else.

I have a MEC one and love it. Had it now three years and use it daily going back and forth to work and looks just like I bought it. I use it so much I feel naked or like somethings missing when I don't have it. ::)

okley IMO i rock mine everywhere, holds up snowmobiling, bike, snowboarding, etc... what kind of bags you rocking now? hard? (on the bike)
i am looking for hardbags for my sport touring

Heres the deal,

My bike is the main and only transportation when it is snow free outside, I hate the saddlebags, they are a pain and starting to fall apart anyways. I do everything with my backpack load with music gear, load it with groceries, load it with tools... I am a big guy (400lbs) and very broad in the chest and shoulders, A lot of backpacks don't fit when i wear them... and a waist strap??? LOL!!!!

My main concern for the bag is that it can handle the APOCALYPS... When i load it full of canned goods, i want it to hold up... w hen i ram ill fitting stuff into it, I want it to hold together. when it gets wet? I don't expect it to be 100% waterproof. I would love to find one of Kevlar weave, of balistics grade nylon mesh... I just want a plain black packsack/backpack that can take a shit kicking... the one i have is torn to shit, admittedly it was a Walmart special, and has earned its funeral, but I am perfectly willing to spend $$$ on a "real" bag, if it can take the abuse.

I don't care about "weight balance" or "accessory pockets" or having a pile of little pockets, I just need a bag that can handle being abused constantly and survive.

The best backpack on the market is this one: http://mboye.com.au/

It's not the largest or the toughest, but it is best design. Mine has the lighting kit, so I can either have those reflective strips flashing or on all the time. Great for riding at night or in poor conditions.

Small print time:
In the spirit of full disclosure, I should let you know that they are my son's company and he designed them.

hahaha all good teazer, gotta pump up the family when you can!

I am gonna stop by MEC this weekend and see what they have for options, then hit a surplus store or 2

Check out giantloopmoto.com - theres some nifty storage ideas on there. They're tankbag and unique kinda pannier-loop things... recently got some myself and really do like them.
