A start

Just thought I'd share that my darling wife took her first ride on the bike, or any bike for that matter. She wanted to go to the store the other day. I asked if we should take the bike an she replied "let me try on the spare helmet". That was her first ride. Then a few day after that I was giving the bike a tune up an when I shut the bike down from timing it she asked, "Do you need to take it for a test ride?" I replied I had a drink in me already so I couldn't. She than replied, "Damn, I wanted to go to the store with you."

Now mind you that when i met her 12+ years ago she vowed to never ride on the back of any bike. Now I have to convince her it really isn't that tough to ride one of her own. She thinks she needs a hella scooter so she doesn't need to shift. She already refuses to drive anything without a manual shift but she feels she will have trouble with using a hand to run the clutch vs. her foot amd what not. I have yet to get her in an abondoned lot to let her try.

Does life get any better!

It's good to hear someone actually say that. I have had one friend die on a bike, and also another friend of a good friend. Neither one had been drinking... that we know of. But I don't like to see anyone take any unnecessary risks. I think that if more people had your mindset that there would be thousands of lives that wouldn't meet a senseless end. That line just jumped out at me, and gave you a lot a cred in my book.

Good on ya.

It's also cool to hear that your wife is warming up to the idea of the bike. She'll be bugging you for her own soon enough.

Cool.

My wife won't ride on the back of my bike. She has a fear that we might both not come home and leave the kids on their own.
She has been on the back of bikes before, just not with me.
I'd like to get a small street bike, 500cc or less for her to learn on. She has mentioned some interest.
Also when my boys are old enough, they could learn to ride as well. They're 11 and 13.

Got to work on it.
Best of success to your wife TDC. 8)

My wife was all excited when I brought home the KZ, said that she was looking forward to riding on the back...until I told her that it was going to be a single seater ;D

However, I may work on making a two-up seat over the winter.

Cool beans man! I used to be deadset on a girlfriend/wife being a bike enthusiast (or at least not opposed to me riding), but I guess now there's hope for all of them. ;D

Also, good choice on the no ridey-ridey after a drinky-drinky. Even if you just have one and are fine to drive, still doesn't look good if something DOES happen. Instantly makes you look careless regardless of what happened. Big thumbs up to ya! I know too many people that will pound back a few to a half dozen brewskis, then drive to the party while finishing off the rest of the case. Not a wise decision, but I guess that's what happens out here in the back-woods.
