dont worry, the back brake on the ace is just there to look good.. 
the only real thing you can do is put better shoes in. the rear brake is really weak.

Been Around the Block
Hey All,
Recently had my rear wheel off to fix broken spokes,
so had a look at rear drum,
gave it a squirt of brake cleaner
and scrubbed the original 7000 k old highly
glazed pads a rub with some rough sandpaper,
80 grit I think it was ?
Not expecting any major improvement and
haha,
guess what ! the rear actually locked up for the first time ever!
surprised me as I usually dont get any response ,other than
that steading feel ?
not sure if I hit gravel,? but didnt notice any!
going to test em better next ride !
