aircraft style fuel caps. Is anyone running one?

Okay guys, I am looking to run an aircraft style fuel cap on my latest build. Is anyone out there running one? If so, what are you using and how did you install it? I have seen a few bolt in and weld in styles, but the bolt in styles are meant to be used on certain tanks. I am half thinking of finding a salvaged tank off a modern crotch rocket, cutting it out, and welding into my old tank. Any help would be great, photos would be even better!

Lucky. That's exactly what I did a couple of times now. First time was an RD400 that I paid someone to do. I liked it so much I did an RD400F that my son rode for a while and then I repeated the same trick on the Phat Trakka.

Not being a shameless shill for them - I've gotten oustanding support from them over the years - but if you go to www.aircraftspruce.com or .ca if you're in Canada, they have an assortment of vented and non-vented aircraft gas caps in various price ranges.
I've used their caps on my composite (fiberglass) tanks for years but the process would be similar for a metal tank - a mounting flange is required and a fuel-proof gasket/sealant, fasten it down and you're ready to go.
They also have a huge assortment of aerospace materials and parts applicable to bikes; the first time I sent my pal to the Canadian branch (Brantford ON Airport) to pick up Dzus fasteners, he spent a couple of hours in the showroom and going through their catalogue, ordering more parts.
Try 'em out - you won't be sorry.

I got a $40 one that I guess is made for harley tanks or something. I got it off of ebay. It worked fine.

It went into my custom tank so I just had the tank made to fit it. In the first pic you can kind of see the thick ring welded just inside the cap hole. This got drilled and tapped to accept the screws.

I am doing the bolt in type on my tank, $29.99 on ebay. Should be able to use it on most tanks I would think. Only issue I have with it is it weighs a ton!
