Almost enders (close calls)

Well been riding for about a year now without issue, was actually starting to have a sparkle of faith in humanity and people particularly there driving skills... until tonight, Almost ended up getting scraped off the highway. Im boiling mad about it!!!!

I was in the fast lane making a lane change to the right and it was well signaled and there wasn't anybody really around me, as i was about 3/4 through my lane change i see a really fast and close headlight moving left towards me jump across my right mirror. I instantly stopped moving right im maybe 9" from the lane markers in the new lane, next thing i know this idiot is right beside me and still moving into me, i hit the brakes hard, he springs infront of me and stops moving left hes driving about 2/3 in my lane and 1/3 in the next lane right and there is no longer a overlap, i see him spinning his head around looking to see wtf, then he floors it and takes off up to about 170km/h

At this point i got really really mad not so much on the fact he almost hit me but by his post action, after he cut me off leaving me no where to go, He looked around then floored it and speed off (effectively fleaing the scene), yeah well im still breathing so your not getting off that easy, IM ON A BIKE! your in a X-trail, i dropped forth and chased this F*#$er down, got his plate, make and model. Now im just debating what to do with it, you used to be able to report people like this.... but that was years ago....

Thank you, self for having 10 years of driving cars behind me and 4 years of dirt biking. Not to mention being real calm and collected and hard to rattle. Also thanks to my motorcycle training coarse, and teaching myself street riding progressively. Had some of these factors been different I don't feel id be here.

I've been riding for about the same amount of time. Nothing like experiencing some of the idiots on the road to make you believe and remember the stories about riding safety. Glad to hear you emerged unscathed. He was probably crapping himself while being chased down. Ha.

I ran over a bowling ball once, going about 45 mph.

Damn thing was just laying in the middle of the road.

If there was a section here on DTT called "almost got killed today" it would have the most posts. Fact of the matter is that people arnt aware of fucking tractor trailers never mind bikes. We ride cus we love it, and accept the dangers. Most of us will go down, many will be hurt and a few will die. It sucks but thats life in car land. What needs to be done is better awareness campaigns for ALL drivers, be they biker, trucker, or 16 year old new driver.

Stay safe and keep your bike in top shape so you can protect yourself.

I watched a receiver hitch bounce out of the back of a truck and land right in front of my tire with just enough time for me to nail it on a bridge with no shoulders....i still see stars sometimes.

i tell this to anyone i know who starts riding when they say they ride like people don't see them.

i tell them to ride like people do see them, and are actively trying to kill them, i've never had a crash with a car, i've avoided a lot though

You could try reporting it, if there are other complaints about his driving he will probably get a 'visit' from local LEO (unless of course he is one, then your probably 'up shit creek' big time
You could always just post the number here ;D
