Alternative Seat Mounting Idea

KOCONUT

In too deep to quit.
was browsing some of the forums looking for some mounting options for my new seat. then it occured to me that hood pins, or something like that would be perfect for mounting a seat with some quick release clips that would allow for easy access to the battery or fuses or whatever. The one immediate problem I could foresee would be impaling yourself on the hood pins, but then I found these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220837718014&viewitem=&clk_rvr_id=259653177317&rvr_id=259653177317&mfe=sidebar

They mount completely flush. My idea is to mount them completely flush to the top of the seat before I glue down the seat cushion. If anyone has done this, let me know how it works. Seems like it should be a relatively inexpensive way to mount a seat securely while also having easy access to the mechanicals.

that is a really good idea. I am starting the work log now for my seat. I think that might be the very way that i am going to mount it! thanks!

Looks like a really useful retaining device in several places in addition to seats - more secure than Dzus fasteners.

Crazy

That's exactly what I'm planning on. I've had 4 sets of these in my garage since I built a car with pull off panels.

They seem to have a rather large diameter, are they easy to reduce?

Yeah, the actual locking latch part if maybe an inch in diameter, and the mounting hole is probably around 3/4". The large plate is only needed for large panels.
