AMA Vintage Days

Oh man... :-[

Ya, that's the one. I'm about 1.5 hours away in Mississauga, Ontario. These zrx's are getting harder to find here. The prices are high too. I really didn't think I had a chance to get it for a decent price , but... Sorry about that my friend. :(

It appears to be a good one. The front brakes pulse when partially applied at slow speeds, but that's all I've found so far. Might be a warped rotor, but we'll figure it out when we have a chance to look at it. :)

hey no hard feelings! at least it went to a good home!

Well it's a loving home at least. ;) I'll do my best to look after it! :D

Show was fun, racing was good, swap meet was meh.
Bunch of the same over priced, locked up non titled bike that are there every year.
Lot more guys running around on pit bikes and carts then in years past too.

Didn't find a single person from DTT though.
Rode out with some guys from the "other" forum and chilled with some racers we know.
Also saw the VinMoto guys.

Best part was the guy on a bicycle riding the wall of death!

Attending Mid-Ohio VMD anymore is a total waste of time. I went up on Saturday for a couple hours and left(waste of $40 for a single day pass).....horrible what this event has become!

I've been attending VMD's since its beginning in the 1990's and have raced with AHRMA there also.....never missed a year, until the last few years(after the AHRMA split). Decided to ride up this year and visit some friends I knew were attending. The pits were almost empty....more modern race bikes than vintage.....and even swap meet vendors were leaving early on Saturday. This event used to be the premier event in the world, with people coming from all over to attend this single event. Its amazing how the AMA has ruined this event! With AHRMA and Stoner.....some of the most amazing bikes would show up. Things you had only read about in books or seen on TV, were right there for you to see, hear and touch......and watch legends ride out on the track. THAT HAS ALL DISAPPEARED!

Bring back Will Stoner and AHRMA.......then I will return for this. Until then....i'll either stay home.....wait and goto Barber or maybe attend the new Will Stoner/AHRMA event in New Jersey.

this was my 3rd year going.....second year getting a swap meet spot....this year the swap meet was thinner than the two prior years....much less spots occupied and not nearly the amount of parts I was used to. I also did notice even only having two prior years to compare to that the bikes in the pits were more modern which was a bit of a let-down....the vendor tents at the infield were pretty disappointing as well....

all that said though, I still had a great weekend and enjoyed my time there. I plan to go back next year with more lessons learned on how to treat the swap meet and what to take to sell.

The show in NJ was reported to be 4x what it was the year before.
Might be the place to be instead of they are booked on the same weekend again

Ya, maybe NJ will be on the list of events for us next year too. 8) It's worth considering. :)

I still enjoy Mid-Ohio. It's not great racing for the most part, and the vendors are somewhat dissapointing. I still go for the camaraderie though! ;D 8) The peeps can make it! 8)

I was there all day Saturday walked damn near everywhere inside the track, pits and swap sporting a DTT shirt, and saw no one.

I agree that the event has gone seriously downhill since the split, and the AMA continues to make stupid decisions almost daily.
(Did you see the national AMA advert with misspellings?)

I had a short list of parts to seek and got nothing from that swap at all.

Saw some old friends, so that was a major bonus, but the event is probably no longer worth a 9 hour drive for me.

I'm with OCR on this. The racing was HUGE when AHRMA ran it- I watched the afternoon race on Saturday- 3 classes, 8 bikes total. pathetic. Swap meet is still decent, but all the really good parts are sold on line anymore, so it's mostly junk or over priced. And the vendor scene has always been poor. They also use to have almost every make set up for test rides, this year was just KTM and Indian. Ticket price is insane- $40 at the gate for one day!?!?! Then, went to Ashland for the flat track races, which was a pretty decent show, another $20! I know I could have bought the $45 weekend deal in advance as an AMA member, but after getting burned with those a few rainy years, and now that the racing sucks, no reason to go more than one day. I will say that I thoroughly enjoyed the AMA tent/museum and meeting the Indian Wrecking Crew. What a great couple of old timers from back when real men raced motorcycles. I will probably put my motorcycle/entertainment $$ to better use the next few years.
I get that camping for the weekend and meeting with friends to enjoy all things motorcycle related is a good time, but I've been there when it was really, really good, and now it's just not.

My .02

I was at NJMP Park for the AHRMA event.

Will Stoner filled up the swap meet area with 63 vendors and the racing grid was full. Spectator attendance was very light on Friday, but picked up for Saturday and Sunday.

The track's monthly bike night fell on Friday and they had live music, $5 burgers, and $2 drafts at the pub. Saturday and Sunday they had live music by the swap meet area. Saturday night they had a luau at the track pub with good food and beer deals as well.

It's a pretty nice facility. Not as nice as Barber but nicer than most. Clean showers and restrooms.

We'll be back next year. Hopefully Mid-O won't be on the same weekend again next year so people can go to both.

The folks I talked to said that Thursday afternoon, truckloads of bikes and parts were leaving the swap- all the good stuff is snatched up before the event officially begins . . . rather uneventful this year and not too exciting. But, people/bike watching is a blast.

Yes to all the above!

I went to the Wauseon swap meet this past weekend......HOLY SHIT.....WAY BETTER THAN MID-OHIO!!

Everyone who used to attend Mid-Ohio VMD is now attending this event. I saw and talked with several people I remember from the good ole days of Mid-Ohio and everyone had the same thing to say about VMD...."F" that place! The place was packed with people, bikes and vendors. This place had everything.....cafes, antique bikes, chops, bobs, side cars.....you name it....it was there. Not to mention.....its FREE to attend!!

A close friend had a swap meet spot, so we camped with him. Get this....swap meet spots are $50, compared to $200+ at Mid-Ohio....thats a no-brainer!! Only this missing is some road racing, but they do have vintage flat track racing on Friday night. I'll be attending this event next year instead of Mid-Ohio......much better event.

Dont waste your time with Mid-Ohio VMD anymore.....attend this event......you'll be glad you did!

I did see some interesting bikes were sold Thursday.
Saw a rickman cb750, wanted to know the price.

Thanks for the info! Will definitely look into this in the future.

For those of you who think Mid-Ohio 2014 was a waste of time - too bad. ;D
We had a great time. Great riding in the area. Great accommodations and the restaurant's were super.
You can't be at two tracks at the same time.

The disappointing part was the lack of racers in attendance but what do you expect if AHRMA arranges the NJMP Park event on the same weekend. ???

I wouldn't be blaming that on the AMA. I think AHRMA wants to stick it to the AMA and that's one way of doing it.

Here's more pics.
