American bureaucracy and cafe racers

And some of has been to Italy and have raced Italian bikes and have fallen in love with Italian women - just don't tell my wife about that last one :)

Honestly I don't like too much this talking about Italy (the way we drive...) from people that usually don't know a bit about Italy....
as for italian bikesp.s. talking about women...the only time I've been stabbed by a woman was by a girl from Dallas, TX.... :D
MY EDIT

Nuno,

I suspect the jibe at Italian driving was very tongue in cheek and not meant as a poke in the eye ..............................

I'm still trying to get to grips with US humour - but that comment / joke could easily have come from the UK.

There are stereotypes and then comical stereotypes - ALL Italian men pinch Women's arses ...don't they? All English men drink warm beer and eat roast beef and Yorkshire pudding......... ;)

Just be proud about your motorcycle heritage - I know I am..... 8)

Don't let us smarmy assholes ruin your day.
Go ride your (stock) bike.

I'm going to go ride my unjustly expensive, oil leaking, prolly break and leave me stranded, head lights not working, special tool requiring British bike. Maybe I can pick up an arrogent American girl, bleach blond, fake boobs with a vocabulry of 27 words.

Lighten' up, Nuno.

Sorry to cause offence nuno, i was only having a joke, based on my experiences... i went to rome a couple of years back (okay, i know this probably won't be typical of the rest of italy) and the traffic was pretty chaotic! lots of honking of horns and near misses... as i said though, that i imagine isn't typical of 99% of italy, i guess i probably should've worded my last comment better to have made that clear... :-\

one thing i'm sure we can all agree on though is that italians have a talent at making beautiful things, cars, bikes, women, fashion, artwork... :)

well...I'm from Rome and I 100% understand and agree with your picture of Roman traffic...I could spend a few lines explaining why we drive in that way, why Rome is so chaotic and why things cannot change (just think about the history of the Ancient Rome) but it would be too boring and off topic...
Just note that as soon as we (I mean "we" as Romans) leave Rome we don't drive like that anymore...funny part is that I've never been stopped by police while driving inside Rome (car, scooter or bikes...). We have problems outside the cities, on mountains road, where police will stop every single motorbike during the WEs. So basically I could be a time bomb among 5 millions persons but I cannot decide to risk my life on my shitty-bike in a desert mountain road*.....

* the reason should be that since here medical assistance is free (oh well, is not free, is compulsory with taxes....) you are not free to decide to hurt yourself 'cause it would be a cost for everybody else, that's why the Government is so "mummy" with us...

I driven around Italy, but never in Rome. On the big divided highways no one seemed crazy. But as soon as you hit a town and traffic slows a little, people start driving like they are batchit insane! Thats fine though, it was much more fun then safety concious Canada.

And nowhere near as bad as Indonesia

But as fas as modding bikes is concerned, once you in the US just do whatever you want. Up here I dont think twice about changing something on my bike.

Nuno! Any chance, seeing you are in Italy, that you could do me a big favor and go to the Ducati factory and beat the crap out of them? I just watched the GP at the sausagering and it was embarrassing to see Ducati finish so low. What the hell is going on with them? Put the boot in and sort them out!

Page 1 of the thread, post 6. "homologated". Damn good word!!! Congrats Nuno!!! I've got to try to use this in conversation

homologate (hɒˈmɒləˌɡeɪt)
vb
1.
chiefly Scots law to approve or ratify (a deed or contract, esp one that is defective)
2.
law to confirm (a proceeding, etc)
3.
to recognize (a particular type of car or car component) as a production model or component rather than a prototype, as in making it eligible for a motor race
[C17: from Medieval Latin homologāre to agree, from Greek homologein to approve, from homologos agreeing, from homo- + legein to speak

Japanese brands have two teams of engineers working ong GPs...one is in Japan working on the next bike, the other one is around the world using the bike...next year they switch and the story goes on...
Ducati is a small factory, they only have one entourage. To be ready for 2012 (back to 1000cc) they have to experiment now, so it's not surprise that everything is going bad for them now. Honda is way better this year, better focus on the next one.

Less technical explaination? They are a bunch of pussies!!!

Tell'em to take out the TC and all the other electronic crap and let Rossi ride the Duck as God intended it to be ridden!!
