Android fans here?

Well, my phone is not my primary tool for everyday use. The level of reliability that I get with my rooted android is what I want, don't think I would be let down.

I never said I rely heavily upon any of those features other than back-up kind, but the others are the ones I can't do without rooting an android or jailbreaking an iPhone.

What sonic says is somehow true, much of the roms are developed around some other, more stable, rom, to which are then applied some theming in order to make then look a lot cooler than any stock rom. On the other hand, the performance benefits I have got by rooting my phone, are something you have to do by your own to feel the improvements.

If you choose to run one of the most popular roms (cm, slim, etc), the reliability level those guys have come to develop is somehow in the league of IOS. The only difference is that iOS is developed by paid people to do so, Custom roms are developed by people who want to develop such rom in favor of the community, and if that community likes that rom, they can make a donation as an option. You make the donation or not, you'll always have the latest android for download to your device as soon as they develop it. Even if the phone is not supported any more by your manufacturer.
