why is everybody getting upset lately? I've been on this forum for about a year and a half and this past month there has been a huge surge of pissing contests.

"i hate harleys"
"i hate politics"
"i hate relationships"

It used to be a good natured place and nobody called anyone else an asshole. whats going on? can we get some moderation or something? where is "GO!" ? admins need to get on this. it isnt the same place it was a year ago, I can promise you that. attitudes need to go back to how they were or this place will lose the magic it originally had if it isn't too late.

It doesnt matter who made it (harley, honda, suzuki, yamaha, triumph) if you made it.
politics don't matter here. stop pretending they do. motorcycles matter.
ask you friends for life advice - not the internet. ask the internet for motorcycle advice.

rant over.
 
Any times ideas are exchanged, there are bound to be differing views. I support the idea that all discussions should be kept civil, but the concept of limiting or moderating views and thoughts is not usually met with great success.

People being intentionally rude or antagonistic; Sure, kick 'em out. People just voicing their thoughts and opinions in a section of the forum specifically dedicated to that function; seems OK to me. Bikes are what brings us together, but it's not the only thing we may have to offer one another.

Too be honest, I think that there is an intensity in the air. Economic grumblings, wars in every part of the world, devastating weather. It playing itself out here.

It'll pass. I've been MIA from the forum for a few months and while there it's not all smiles and roses, it certainly is a lot better than other forums I visit.

I think it's just in the air right now. People are anxious and aggravated. I'm sure it will pass. I haven't witnessed anything super ugly, just really cynical and sarcastic. I could've missed something though. Either way, I'm not worried, you shouldn't either.

I think it's illegal to say the word retarded now. You'll probably be visited by the internet police. Hopefully they go easy on you. Good quote though - Internet police note that I did not say retarded other than referring to someone else saying retarded.

It's because of this thread style... All opinion based! Get back to factual topics. This works, that doesnt. Letting people know what you ate for lunch and why you "prefer" one thing over another belongs in gossipy places like facebook. This should be a resource for motorcycle knowlwdge and inginuity, not getting personal shit off your chest. That should at a minimum be left to pm's...

I'll apologize for my flame bait post the other day. That being said, it seems like all the bullshit is staying in the OT section. So that's good. You know a good forum has gone south when that petty bickering starts making it's way out to the rest of the board.

I've notice this too. I've been AWOL for a few months recovering from broken bones & surgery, busy with life, new baby, etc. I popped on here and it's like a bomb went off. I've been thinking about it all week. This is the best forum I've ever been part of. It is the most positive, laid back, supportive, and well run internet group I've seen. I was really bummed to see the bickering this week in this area of the board. Maybe we can all take this weekend to chill out, release some aggression and remember why we log onto DTT and think about how we would like others to treat us. Never forget that golden rule guys ;)


Thanks again to the Mods for this fantastic place. The wealth of information, experience, and support is inspiring.

Only reason I haven't deleted the 'Harley riders are this, Harley riders are that' etc. threads is they tend to morph into reasonably meaningful discussions, not just a bunch of stupid posts.

But... if I need to I'll be a heavy handed asshole and start dumping threads and banning offenders. I like to let you guys sort things out and so far so good.

So don't make me turn this car around, come back there and beat the shit outta you kids. At least that's what my dad always would say (and my mom).
