Angle Grinder Dilemma

The 12.99-14.99 grinders from tractor supply, harbor freight, etc., are pretty good, but let me let you in on what will break on them first. The push-down button for changing the disks is the grinders weakest point. Each one, eventually, sooner or later, will break/jam, and may complete kill the use of it when it happens. I've gone thru a few of them, nice one year warranty. Keep the receipt haha. We use grinders constantly at the chassis shop, and have learned which ones are worth it. We keep cheap ones there so as to not blow up the better ones. IMO, Dewalt is the way to go. I have one thats about 4 years old, two model series I believe, and I love it. And the day someone breaks it, even if its my self, i'll lose it.

Something to remember: I am left-handed and have had trouble with my fingers accidentally turning off my grinders. On my Sears, Milwaukee and Makita grinders, I can spin the head 90 or 180 degrees to move the trigger to the right side or top of the tool. Just undo the four screws holding the head to the body and spin it. The head plate and body are square at that point. Major improvement.

The last couple of cheapies I got have the switch on top of the body (not on the side).

Good point about the locking key going FUBAR. That happened on one of mine, so I put the flap disc on it (I don't have to swap that one out very often ;) )

I only ever removed guard one time to get extra clearance, ain't doing it again.
