Another damn helmet painting thread.

Coast to Coast
I got a Bell half-helmet with the purchase of my already cheap bike, but being a new rider I didn't want to mess around with sacrificing saftey, so I picked up a cheap used 1-year old KBC.

It's not a bad looking helmet, but I hate "helmet graffiti", so I'm devising how to go about painting it.

I know I want to use water-based paints, but I'm not sure how to remove the gigantic KBC decal on the front, or if I should go to the trouble of removing the vents or just mask them off.

how good are you wanting this to turn out? the level of prep work that you are willing to put into it will determine the quality of the outcome.

Just sell me the kbc, and use the $ to but a solid color helmet. Theres some great deals online!

There is no way I could match the price-performance ratio that I got for this helmet, that is unless your willing to pay $150 for the KBC.

In order to paint the helmet right you'll have to take out all the padding carefully take off the plastic parts . Then prep , paint , etc ( I'm sure you know the details ) . Yon kinda had a point . You might be better off selling the helmet and using the procedes for another helmet you can custom paint .
BTW 150$ for that KBC ? Hm. No. Lower . Being used maybe 100$ . KBCs new right now are going for super cheap. I've seen some on clearance online for 40, 50 and 60$ . Sell the helmet , make a buck and find a used repairable Simpson . At least with a Simpson there are replacement parts . Even a Bell.

Not trying to be negative or discourage you but maybe aim you in a better direction . Kinda like the saying " Fix things that need fixing " or " If it ain't broke , don't fix it " .

take out all the padding? What happened to just masking off the bottom and the shield area of the helmet?

Mysta2 didn't remove all the padding and he did alright.
