Hello good falks of do the ton!!!!
My name is Ivan, I live in Zagreb, Croatia and I just started to love motorcycles and all that garage work
So I bought this 12 years old police yamaha sr250. First owner was the police obviously :
Second owner is a great family man with a love to engines and everything that has engine inside. He took really good care of the bike.
After the armour taken off along other crap:
cut the crap:
It should be fun building it I'm sure. Only thing that scares me is the electricity eeeeeeeew I'm running away from that like a dracula from garlic hahahaha.
I'm sure I will nag you guys with a lot of questions
Welcome! I bet you could sell that windjammer for a lot of cash on eBay. Bike looks a million times better already, great find! One thing for sure, because it's an old police bike its in good condition. Strange they ride 250's there.. Not realy a speed demon
I will try to sell it on ebay for sure
This was motorcycle for cadets on police academy. After graduation police officers got to ride BMW RT 1100 and/or RT750 I am not sure, or both. This was is early 2000s. Now they ride some BMW also I'm not sure of the model.
-lower gas tank front end a bit and re-secure it somehow.
-fabricate new seat
-fabricate rear fender
-trim front fender
parts incoming:
-pod filter
-breather filter
-handlebar
-muffler
The plan is to put wider rear tire also. Remove chain guard maybe (bolts are seized really badly). I'm gonna try to lower the front end without shortening forks... don't know how it's gonna work...
Repainting the frame is also an option but I'm am really low on budget.
Guys I need help. I needed to replace spring that returns clutch cable and lever. It is located on crankcase. I replaced the bugger and now it still doesn't return the cable. It was working properly when I got the bike. Any ideas why is this happening?
Clutch cable is not new but it was working two weeks ago.
Last week I found that the clutch lever is not returning and saw that spring is broken.
Today I installed new spring and result is still same. It won't return.
I press clutch and shit it in 1st and manually return it and rear wheel can't rotate. When I press clutch again and try to rotate rear wheel I just can't. It's like the rod and the clutch inside doesn't have any contact what so ever.
Could I destroy something inside if I shifted gears without pulling clutch?
They'll rip apart, they're sandwiched, metallic plates/fiber plates/metallic plates/fiber plates/ etcetera. Pry it too hard with a screwdriver, and you'll rip the fiber plates and have to replace them. Just take your time and pay attention to how everything comes apart and you shouldn't have any issues.
ok, took it apart, cleaned friction plates, put it all back and it's stll the same. no return. when i press clutch only most outer plate is moving a bit, rest of them stand still...dafuq??? help
Is it in gear? or static? Try it in gear, pull clutch and try to roll bike all it takes is slight pressure relief to allow the plates to slide past each other
Do you have an expoded fiche pic to look at the assembly? sounds like a plate or something may not be lined up right? Are there any worn edges in the basket near the base of the teeth? Like pic? WIll cause clutch to not disengage.
SO I re-read. Your pulling the cable and it is staying disengaged, not returning unless you manually return the cable? The arm moves and stops, then you have to move it back on to re engage the plates? Something is binding for sure. Pics may help or a vid of what is happening.
everything was working properly two weeks ago. rode it and it was all just fine. there is no sign of ware as you speak off on the assembly. here's a pic
