is there a brand or style that are great at an inexpensive price? are the billet better than the normal ones? they are for a 1981 yamaha xs650 with original forks so they should be 35mm. would it be better to get 34mm to make a tighter fit? just lookin for some info before I buy anything.

This has been highly discussed several times. Here is a recent thread. http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=52285.0

And no. you want to get the exact size for your fork tubes. They will tighten sufficiently with the correct size and will not tighten properly if you go too small.

Two piece ones that have a bend in them have more adjustability than the one piece ones. They are usually more expensive but I try to get these kinds. This way you can set them at the most comfortable angle for your wrists. Also if you drop your bike you may only have to replace the bar part and not the clamp.

These are one example:

While I have no experience with these ones, I have bought stuff from these guys and been satisfied with the products and the quick delivery.

Dime City is great too supplier too, nice stuff and quick delivery and great rep and they give you a discount after you have made 100 posts:
