Any way to repair worn slide bores in otherwise good carbs. ?

I've got many other carbs. I can use but when i figure out a way to fix this one.. Then I'll know what to offer a person who has a similar problem later.. I hate to send anything to 'the crusher' unless it's absolutely beyond hope.I imagine I'm not the first who's run into this;coating it w/.. Something durable that'll hang on there.. will be a challenge to learn. :)

The thing about the carb. slide bore is that it had corrosion on the aluminum and more at the bottom of the bore,it must have had a good bit of moisture in it from sitting outside.I was cleaning it out real good in there and didn't realize that the corrosion itself was giving the slide a tighter fit ::) The fit is tighter toward the top of the bore and loose down bottom. I could build-up the slide.. but it would be best if I could have someone spray a certain type of product into the slide bore and then slowly(& lightly) hone it to fit.. I strongly desire to save this little guy :)

I'd try Devcon:

We used to use that a lot to re-build broken cooling fins, etc. It's pretty tough ;)

That stuff does look tough,I wonder if it can be sprayed uniformly into the whole slide bore ?

Not sure if that's possible - the stuff we used to use was like Bondo where you mixed it up and formed it.

I was thinking he could mix it up, apply it sparingly with a knife, then run a small hone through it (like brake slave cylinder hone).

Might work, might not......worth a try on an otherwise fubar'd carb body...
