Been Around the Block
Yeah i was wondering if anybody here are into high end denim jeans?? Raw, selvedge and stuff like that. Im NOT talking about True Religions or 7 For All Man Kind and those brands. But more of the Nudie, and Sugar Cane brands or Japenese denim..

anybody anybody?? or am i all alone??

Sounds kind of icky...
But I really do support your right to choose any lifestyle you want. Good luck with that.

Don't think most members here are into that. The price of some of those jeans are more than what we paid for our bikes! And with the money I save by wearing run of the mill Levi's or Gap jeans, I have more to spend on the fun stuff.

cool. I was just asking because I own a high end jean company and im making some normal raw denim jeans and im lining the insides with kevlar on the knee and seat. Im using super high quality designer denim fabrics. Some of the same stuff I use on my jean collection. I was looking for denim motorcycle jeans but they all look sooo jacked up. and have a ugly fit. So id thought id make my own. I want them to look normal but still have some type of protection to save my hyde!

cool. nevermind. just thought id throw this out. just seeing if anybody was interested.

Well why didn't you say that first?

Kevlar knees and seat sounds like protection to me but can't you just put them in regular denim? I mean if I think I'm gonna need protection then why can't I have that in $30 jeans instead of $80 jeans or whatever "high end jeans" cost.

Also, if you can do that then it's likely you can make cafe seat covers and there is a demand for those here.

You can sew kevlar on your 15 dollor jeans, but the kevlar would not be in the seam of the stitches. It will probibly come out looking like a patch that your mom put on your jeans as a child when you got a hole in them. And also the ones im making are going to be all reinforced. and constructed using kevlar thread. Im really going all out on these ones.

i should be done with the prototype that im making for myself. Ill post up some pics when they are done.

but yeah, the reason that i posted if anybody was into high end jeans is because I thought that cafe racers have a bit more style then your normal street bike rider.

Well, I for one appreciate a good pair of jeans - there, I said it, shoot me :) I wear them every day to work - not my riding jeans or wrenching jeans - more like my work clothes. Beats wearing a suit.

That being said, I buy whichever brand/style I like at the moment, and don't spend rediculous amounts on them. Not something I've ever really been 'into'. I think the most high-end brand-recognizable jeans I own are a pair of J Lindebergs.

I'd be interested in seeing what you come up with and the rest of your line - always looking for an interesting pair of jeans to wear to the office.

I might be interested, tell me more.

Is the fabric anything like that used by "naked and famous"

^^^ This.

I like good jeans. One pair is "Japanese denim", but I have no clue what that's supposed to mean (besides the obvious). I mostly buy what fit well, meaning slim without being too urban outfitters slim. I'm also not big into spending over $80 for jeans, because I occasionally venture out of my office and into production areas at work.

Kevlar lining could be awesome, though. I'm interested in seeing what you come up with.

There was an article on Hell for Leather about a Japanese company doing heavy denim riding gear; can't find it right now though.

My friend John Gomi who runs Gomi in Austin turned me on to all that stuff. Backed out when I went back to school. There's sort of scene for it here, but the one place that sold alot of high end stuff here (Factory People) went under.

so I have your contact info. I email you updates to see if your still interested. But yeah. along those lines.

If anybody is interested just shoot me an email you and Ill keep you updated on the denim kevlar riding pants. Again, im going to make them out of high end fabrics and reinforced construction, but they will have a nicer fit then whats out there now for denim riding pants. Im going to do a small run with them. Ill try to keep the price down for anybody thats interested.

I got a few pairs of Nudie raw denim jeans, I love them. I prefer higher end jeans because of the better materials used, better construction, and they tend to fit better.

I've spent a lot of money on jeans, I must admit... I've got some Deisel, Acne, a number of different RVCA's, Paper Denim & Cloth, Obey, Crate... Jeez. I have too many jeans. Lately I've really enjoyed the lighter color Obey jeans and RVCA's Chevy Remix - they're not super pricey (~80) and they fit great.

Sign me up for a size 34 pair of reinforced denim flares, my man! Good to see somone interested in the safety game and also at offering a bit of style while they're at it. You may want to check out these guys, who are popular here in Australia. They've recently come out with stretch-denim fashion-fit jeans for women. Not sure of how they're constructed, but they're a market leader over here and might be interesting for you to have a look. No affiliation, I wear el-cheapos because its all I can afford right now.

That aside, I'm sure you'll do a darn good job if those sample photos are anything to go by! All I'd personally recommend is to make sure that the fabric is up to being bug splattered and road grimed on a ride. If it can stand up to that, plus the occasional knee-down on the side of the road, and still look good...then I'm interested.

Cheers - boingk

I'd be curious to see what the first wash after wearing a pair of raw denim jeans for riding for 6+ months would look.

I buy high end jeans. https://www.baileysonline.com/itemdetail.asp?item=90000%203230 at least I DID. $25.
Canadian made loggers pants. They have a few regulars left in 32/30 only. They made 'double fronts' and 'fleece lined' also. They are cut like painters pants. Good thing I have a dozen pair but my older ones are loosing the knees after 10 years. If anyone knows where I can get some more of these please let me know. They are literally the only long pants I wear. (I wear armoured overpants touring)

I was always a flare corduroy kinda guy myself, until I started riding last year. I would love a pair of reinforced denims that are actually flattering. Just keep us up to date on this thread - I'm sure there's enough interest.
