Anyone else with a vinyl fetish?

OK vinyl guys... A good friend of mine collects vinyl so for his b-day recently I found him a Misfits "die die my darling" 12". Unopened in mint condition. Its not an original pressing or anything, but it was only $13. Was that a good deal? I have no clue what this stuff is really worth...
And on a side note, a close friend of mine works with a kid here in Pittsburgh who just bought a shit load of old 60s era equipment from some long defunct recording studio to press records. Hes still trying to figure it all out, but when he does he plans on putting out 7"s for local bands. If anyones interested I can try and get his info for ya.

Would love to press my stuff on vinyl, but damn shame, i'm not in the us. As far as what something's worth... it's worth what you're prepared to pay. I wanted a copy of last hurrah in the big apple by the yardbirds. I had to pay $80 (i think it was) to get it, not so it could sit in it's cover.... I thrash that record now!!

theres a killer documentary on youtube, done by the BBC on Prog Rock. 3 part jobbie, BBC themselves posted it, def worth a watching. They interview all the greats.

Have a few Yes records too. Great stuff. Will definitely check that doco out. Have you heard Porcupine tree before? A more modern incarnation of prog rock. Great band and an interesting story on wiki about how they got started too.

Deep Purple, King Crimson, Allman Brothers... all sound so much better on vinyl...

True dat! Actually, all my vinyl (including the albums you listed) was stolen by some butt-hole named Opossum many years ago! I hate him... I have a few LPs left but no means to listen to them.

Garage and yard sales bud. That's the way to go. I picked up a Technics direct drive table a year or two ago in amongst a bunch of hifi equipment. They wouldn't split it so i had to buy some rubbish tape deck and an amp etc, but they only wanted $10 for the lot. It had a stanton tone arm on it and i bought a pickering NP/AC for it off ebay. Best investment ever!!

I'm a big record nerd, I have a couple thousand records, and few hundred 45's. Mainly 60's-70's psych and funk stuff, and 90's hiphop. I'm actually trying to prune down my collection to a more manageable size. I need to make room in my garage for the bike.
