Anyone here have a '65 Impala?...

Been Around the Block
Thinking of using a 1965 Impala tail light on my seat build, but need to know what the angle from mounting surface to lens face is. I've asked a few sellers on ebay, but no luck.

Can any DTTers help a brother out?

Thanks,
-Jeff

Have you searched on Google for Auto Museums or collections of Impalas? The New York Times had a front page story (with a photo gallery) about the 100th Anniversary of Chevrolet. It appeared this week. The same story was repeated today.

Yea, buddy of mine has one. You just need the mounting surface angle?

Yes sir! Thanks!

Thanks a bunch Redbird!

That's the perfect angle to match my seat...only now, I'm worried it may be too big!? If it's not too much of a PITA, would you mind getting a diameter? Sorry to ask. I shoulda thought of that earlier! ::) I wouldn't need the chrome ring at the mounting surface because this is what I have in mind...

If this doesn't work out, "Plan B" is to use the bottom of a Royal Ruby Schlitz beer bottle!

Thanks for all your help!

Cheers,
-Jeff

Hey, sorry for the delay. He wasn't home yesterday afternoon.
The lens diameter is 3.5", and just in case, the trim ring adds about another .5".
Hope that helps ;)

Hey Redbird,

No worries, man. I figured you might be busy...what, with 5 hot chicks piled all over your bike on Halloween and all! Who knows what that could have lead to ;D

That should be all the info I need. Thanks so much for your help. I appreciate it!

It's gonna be a tough call. I just bought this... http://www.ebay.com/itm/360401460289?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
I'll probably still buy the '65 pimp tail light too, and see which I like best. Either one should have a significant cool factor.

Thanks again!
-Jeff
