I would love to own that, issue will be like the New Norton that can't seem to get to market and that will be price. I'd bet that bike will be $20k+, I'll have a five minute oppritunity to buy it in five years when it depreciates, just before somebody declares it's a classic and the price skyrockets past my budget.
It's a collaboration between BMW and Roland Sands. Very cool, and I'm stoked to see him move a bit away from the HD cruisers that he usually does (and does quite well). I agree, people would be very interested in this, even in a slightly less "concept" form. The old-school boxer engine is a really nice looking bit of kit, and it would be neat to see BMW embrace a new market.
I like my BMW's, and love the R90S. Not sure what displacement engine they used on this, as the only aircooled boxer they have at the moment is a 1200 if I'm not mistaken. Looks to be based on the R1200GS near as I can tell from the basics of the frame design and the front end. Maybe they stepped the displacement down to 900 to properly bear the R90S badge.
In general I like it, but as we've all said, it's highly unlikely we'll see anything like this in production. BMW seems stuck on the parallel twin 800 engine for all it's mainstream bikes. Would be awesome to see a retro inspired 800cc air cooled boxer back - I'd likely sell a few bikes and buy one if they produced it. I like the F800R bit it's a tad transformer looking for my taste and I've not read great things about it for long distance riding.
Guess I'll just keep my R75/6 Better investment to spend a few hundred a year on it in maintenance and upgrades and see it hold its value vs. selling it and spending an extra $6000 on a new bike that will ultimately be worth $0.
