Are exhaust "X" overs needed ??

Hey everyone,

I'm at that exhaust fitting part of the build and would like to know if the "X" over is needed??

My project is a CB250N.

I do recall hearing something about the "X" overs balancing the pressures in the exhaust system but I'm not sure.

Could someone please clear it up for me, if it's not needed then great it will make for an easier fitting and save some weight too.

the exhaust is designed to run with it, so removing it would affect the characteristics. I think the crossover has a lot to do with creating a reflecting wave of vacuum that hits the exhaust valve of the other cylinder at the right time to help scavenge the exhaust gas, so removing it, at best, would require changing the carb characteristics
