Hey Pete
Yeah... only about 20 minutes away! looking forward to getting these two builds finished and going for a ride with some other local cafe enthusiasts
Hmm, I managed to pick up this XS750 from Melbourne. It cost me $300 on eBay, and then another $350 to send it up on transport... LOL.. but, working or not, these are so rare.. and just to have that 750 triple sound.. and to own the only 4 stroke triple ever to come out of Japan... that's totatly worth it. I will get this thing running and rebuilt and fully customed.... I have upmost desire and belief in this bike and my ability to do it justice...
Oh.. dude, I get my paint from MPA also! The last lot of paint I ot was a 500ml of "Dark Furnace"... (2-pack), which is for the XS400 custom I'm building.. whic is "Codename:
RASPUTIN". That's not far off being finished either.. just a few more welds... some, custom rearsets, some sandblasting, then some paint.... should be nice.. doing a kisck start only on it too.
Oh, also, in the meantime, spoke to Keith at Deus in Sydney, they have had to push the Deus Build-off back a few months... Sometime early next year... due to some politics/complications.. but not my place to say
So, the pressure is off, and that means that the extra time I have I can use to make some other mods to this bike that I originally wanted. I'm hoping to have something really unique.. it's not everyday you see an XS750... let-alone a custom one.
Hey mate, wanted to thank you for the vote of confidence also. Thanks!
Hmmm, it's a shame to see such a wonderful and beautiful bike like the 750 being hacked and welded dodge by some back-yarder... I mean, I love modifiying.. and I have made many changes to this 750, but I've tried to maintain the original aesthetic and most of the orinial parts... the main objective was to bring the handling, safety, and styling forward into the 21st century. I've altered the lines a little too.. I live for cafe racers, but because of my custom chopper industry background, I've tried to integrate some of those lower, leaner chopper lines into this build. a certain symmetry and synergy of classic retro cafe, with a hint of modern, and some chopper styling cues.... I guess the next few months will tell whether or not I pulled it off LOL ;D
You got any new projects mate?
p.s. When my bikes on the road, I'll take you for a run round that Montville-Kennilworth-Maleny route I mentioned
See if your GS can keep up with the old shafty ;D LOL. *jks... will just be nice to blow some cobwebs out 8)
