Ahhh yeah.

I had an 84 trans am myself. It had an older 350 and an TH-350 and it was a blast to drive. Mine was black and gold. I strongly recommend you switch in fourth gen seats. They really cleaned mine up and were way more comfortable. I miss mine and would love to get another one later in life, but I won't have the funds to do so for quite some time.

For autocross you might want to look into subframe connectors. Handling will probably be the weak point of the trans am but power won't hurt either of course!

Unfortunately mine was in a constant state of disrepair. Eventually I decided to get rid of it since it was too big of a project for me to handle at that point. Although, the proceeds from selling the trans am went straight towards buying my first motorcycle.
More information on your car please! I just cant get enough eighties cars.

Nice ;) Got more pics?

I had a red '87 Firebird that I set up for autocross. It originally had a 5.0/A4, but when "done" it was sporting a carb'd L98 (out of an '89 Corvette), Hooker shorties with a custom Y-pipe/3" exhaust/2 chamber Flowmaster, rebuilt trans with B&M shift kit and ratchet shifter, 3.23 posi and close ratio steering box from an '89 T/A, Suspension Techniques drop springs, Hotchkis swaybars and strut tower brace, poly bushings all around, custom boxed front and rear LCA's and panhard rod. Plus a buttload of other minor upgrades/improvements.
That car was a blast to drive, and did fair in ESP. We eventually built a full on CP car out of an '89 IROC.
