Bad day...lost right muffler

So I took a half day and decided I needed to go for a ride (55* in St. Louis) and I had 2 shitty things happen.
1st, Something happened in my clutch box... so I couldn't engage the clutch unless I was stopped. So I'm stuck in whatever gear I'm engaged. (don't worry already fixed this). Then while riding in 1st gear at about 7,000 RPM I noticed the engine got a shit-ton louder. I had a ton of traffic behind me & I was on flat land so I couldn't stop. When I finally got up a hill I looked down & boom. No Right exhaust. (no wonder the kid walking home from school gave me a thumbs up, he must like straight pipes).

The muffler was damaged about a year agowhen it was towed & it had to be welded back together to the part that attaches to the frame. Apparently it was still a weak point.

I spent an hour and a half looking for it...mostly in utter pain. Oh yea, my half day? I had that cause I'm sick with Clostridium difficile, or Cdif...(hey, got to enjoy riding whether whenever you can). And of course, I didn't find it.

So my question is, at this point do, I scour the internet trying to find a cheap set? or do I just switch to straight pipes. I recently got a rejetting kit from Sirius Con Inc. & I've got the following Jets. Do you think I can stretch these jets to make it work? I'm currently running air pods with the main jet primary one size larger and the pilot jet one size larger as well.

2 x #70 Intermediate Jets
2 x #72 Intermediate Jets
2 x #110 Main Jets
2 x #115 Main Jets
2 x #120 Main Jets

plus washers for raising the needle.

Thanks guys,

Hugs & kisses,
cFogs

You might be surprised to find, that even with aftermarket pipes and intakes, the best bet is really close to stock. I have K&N filter pods, and 15" shorties attached to my '72 CB350...and the jets are stock size. I also have that kit. Check out idle, then maybe add one washer to the needles....but I doubt you'll have to.

Is it possible...(is it even a good idea   ) to just use headers?
I know the 350's don't like the bends because that creates pressure...but on a budget here. Is it feasible? recommended? batshit crazy?

Not a good call, you will lose all kinds of power. It will be unbearably anemic up to 6 or 7K.
At the very least toss some cheap emgos on there.

Just get some reverse cone megaphones and stick em on, look good sound good, sorted

You win, jd. Just went with a pair of these reverse megaphone mufflers. The description said shorty, but I'm not familiar with any shortly muffler being so well endowed. (17 in)

I looked on ebay, around the web, & my local bike salvage Cough Cough junkyard cough. The guy there offered to sell me a beat up rusted pair for $100.00 I tried to talk him down * even showed him these. The lowest he would go was $75.00 Not worth it.

So there we go $100.00 shelled out...just like Dad used to say, money is the solution to everything.
