Batteries - Lead Acid / Lithium XXX ? Stories? Suggestions?

1974 Honda CB450T
Hey all,

My CB450 battery decided to stop holding a charge, so I'm in the market for a new one. I've seen other people talk about smaller batteries, moving electronics, replacing with Lithium Ion/Polymer/whathaveyou. Does anyone have suggestions on this front? Stories? Methods?

I've personally been looking at:
http://www.alienmotion.com/index.html

They seem to be saying they are direct replacements. I'm wondering if the charging system can charge and maintain one of these guys without some modification. Any thoughts?

Cheers,
Balek

You might get away with that 8 cell but I don't think you need to go below 5 ah. I fried a similar battery to the 4 cell in the link in like 5 months.

The jury is still out on lithium batteries in old bikes. Seems they don't like vintage charging systems. I'd stick with a regular wet cell or AGM for best results.

I'd stick with Lead Acid on older bikes. Lithium Ion are NOT happy with over charging and these old bikes don't regulate voltages so well.
