Oh, i have a 71 cb450, stock ignition for now, but wanting to upgrade!

If your running kick only you can get away with a pretty small battery. CCAs almost dont matter when running a kick only set up as your leg is doin the cranking. If you want to keep your starter go to any website or shop that sells bike batteries and look up specifically which one you need. It will tell you the requirements needed for operation, and you can go from there.

hmm...never thought of that! i hate when i overthink things! thanks for the quick response!!!

What ever brand or size you decide on,, go with the AGM style bike batt. I've had one in my bike for 5 years and good as new. Prices have come down to very reasonable rates. You will not be dissapointed..

As per above, if only running the kickstart then you could possibly even get away with a very small battery indeed - I'd recommend a 3Ah unit as I've run that in the past on a bike with full road lighting and had zero problems.

You could conceivably get away with no battery at all - change all your turn and brake lights to LED's to reduce current draw, and use the stock headlamp unit. You may have to adjust idle up perhaps a few hundred rpm but that would be the only problem that I could think of.

Personally, I'd stick with a smaller than stock battery...or stock spec if you're using the electric start. The 3Ah unit is only slightly larger than a 20 pack of cigarettes so its pretty easy to hide.

Cheers - boingk

Thanks for the responses! I was def gunna go with an AGM battery. Found a 130 cca battery that is considerably smaller than the stock battery and will fit nicely under my new roccity seat.
