BCR's new toy

Though i'd share one of our new toys with you guys. It's a 1950 Norton Dominator. It's a little rough but with some polishing, waxing and rechrome some parts, it will be good as new. I dont think we'll be doing any mods to this bike. yes you guys read it right, we'll just leave it close to original condition. This will just be a simple resto project. We'll take everything apart, clean it, buff and maybe make a new stiainless headers. I did some research on this bike and the headers that are on it are not the correct ones. The bends are not right.

The last owner restored the bike a couple of years ago, probably rode it for one season then stored it in his garage. The paint still looks good. Just needs some waxing and buffing. The underneath of the fenders are imaculate. No mud or road kills. The tank, rims and primary cover needs to be cleaned, rechrome, painted. The pre unit engine needs some detail cleaning but other than maybe some high temp paint on the cylinders and some high speed buffing on the side covers, the engine would look like a gem. The transmission is a little greasy but nothing that simple green cant clean. The seat is a little old but but the distress on the seat cover looks nice. It gives the bike a real old look. The seat kinda reminds me of my grandfather's old bicycle excersice machine.

Right now the bike is all apart and labeled. We'll post the detail restoration in our website as soon as i have some free time.

Can't wait to see that restored!
Awesome.

Me too. I love all your creations and it will be nice to see your restoration on this one. Please create a thread on the process, would be nice to see the progress.

Such a great bike! I highly encourage you to use the same paint scheme on the tank; no sense in rethinking something that classic and beautiful.

yeah the paint scheme will be the same. Norton came out with silver paint patches on the tank but i like the gold with the red and black pinstripe. It looks better and it will bring out the shape of the tank especially that the tank is chrome. Ohh, check out the oil pressure gauge on the tank. Inspired me to put one on our "trixie special" tank.

I love the wide seat!

Awesome bike - glad to see its in good hands and getting a well deserved re-restoration.

The paint on the tank makes me want to put paint on my alloy Manx tank. Will have to consider that at some point.

Man, awesome bike there.

My temptation would be to redo the mechanicals, but paint and polish nothing... just ride it as it is. To me, patina is a beautiful thing, and that bike has it in spades.

Had some free time last weekend so i figured why not put the Norton together. ( i also worked on the Trixie special a little bit. ike. Check out ) I got the tank and rims chromed and painted a couple of months ago but just havent have time put everything together. Here are some pics of the tank and rims painted with matching colors and stripes. . Didn't really do a lot of work on this project. Just took it apart, cleaned it, waxed it and buff the chrome parts. The only thing that really needed a lot of attention were the gas tank and rims.

Here's the pic of the tank before i sanded it down to get it painted.

All that is left now is get a new 6 volt battery and bend 1.5" stainless pipes for the headers. I'll post more pics as soon as everything is all done.

Very,very nice work! 8)
Can't wait to see it finished. Hope you put it in some shows as I know I appreciate it we owners bring out their beloved vintage bikes for others to gawk at. 8)

At almost every car/bike show I go to you see more people around the old vintage hot rods and bikes than the wild ass, techno thingies with T.V. screens everywhere but where you can actually use them. ::)
