Be careful out there folks...

That kid has some real issues. The fact that hes not going directly into court ordered therapy is amazing to me.

My wife works with children, mostly Autism spectrum stuff, as a therapist and the anger issues and violent behavior that kid is obviously dealing with are similar to what a lot of her clients suffer from.

He basically got a slap on the wrist. I will almost gurantee that hes going to end up killing someone, and sooner than later. Basically by letting him off so easily they reinforced the idea that behavior like that is somewhat acceptable.

I hope the rider makes a full recovery and in the meantime pushes to have a stricter sentence imposed.

hopefully it's killing himself if there is anyone that's going to be killed by this psychopath.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, in situations like this, and i'm not saying I agree to it nor that I disagree, usually the public "reaches out" and makes sure things like this are "properly taken care of". Just think how many people across the globe read that story and are pissed at how stupid that kid was? It'll get taken care of through the courts, and i'm sure locals, but I still have a hard time understanding why they wouldn't immediately suspend his license.

On a positive side, at least the rider survived, and hopefully he has an okay recovery.

Why wasn't he charged with attempted vehicular homicide? He should never have a license after this.

Wow, that is stupid and ridiculous on so many levels... and at Chrimera: slightly off topic but still related. You are near the dragons tail, any idea whatever happened to the guy there that was intentionally spreading oil on hwy 129 to wreck bikers? I heard he was a lot like this kid, but never heard the outcome..

Lingo, one of the dudes on ADV said they don't have that charge in New Hamster.
If the victim lives they charge assault w/a deadly weapon, if they die they charge murder.
He sounds like a budding sociopath to me but wtfdik.

That makes sense.

I haven't heard anything in a while about that incident, but especially around here, where until its Dragon season its mostly ran by HD owners, i'm sure the situation was taken care of. Sh*t like that doesn't happen around here much longer than a day or two usually if its a crazy situation like that. Locals here like to take things into their own hands sometimes. I'm from Florida... so I just watch all the random stuff that goes on here usually, and keep my self to the side of things haha.

Yeh I haven't heard anything about a Dragon incident and I live in NC (and ride an HD) :). Them mountain folk know how to take care of business like that though..

Karma's in the jails shower waiting for him.

I hope so! It happened just about a week after I was there the last time about 5-6 years ago. Made channel 13 news for a night but that's it.

You guys sound like you haven't been riding very long. Here's some news for you. People get really pissed off at motorcyclists! They will accelerate in order to catch up to bikes. Break away from a pack of cages and see what happens. They will do what that ass hat of a teen did in the article. I had a woman in a blazer chase me to the next light and give me the finger. I swear she was trying to hit me from behind. They will brake check you. Some will attempt a squeeze when they see you lane split. They will force their way into your lane.... while driving right next to your ass. They will throw burning butts at your head, or beer cans. They will do fly bys and cut in front of you with mere inches to spare. These are just the things I've experienced. I'm sure other experienced riders have more to add.

i re-read the thread and I don't see where it looks like anyone hasn't been riding for very long.

That is a normal day in Atlanta if you are in a cage, why should they treat you any differently on a bike?

Yeah im sure we've all experienced a lot of that stuff on the road (I know I have) but once in a while ppl like that kid of the subject and the oil dumped on the tail just really stand out from the crowd of otherwise nameless asshats.

Another incident happened to me the same year as the dragons tail bit. Old guy in a farm truck pulled out in front of me way way out in the sticks. So I tried to pass him in the next legal straight. Wrong. He swerved at me every time he thought I was goinfor it. This went on for about 3 miles. Then the beer cans started happening, and the cig butts. In a rare fit of rationalism, I pulled over and dialed *hp. Gave em the tag number and description, then told the op I was taking a different road. Never saw the wanker again.

I was being facetious. Really though, this type of news shouldn't be that shocking to us. When I ride, it's like heightened alertness ! It's survival of the fittest out there. No time for sight seeing.

i was just messin' with ya! I get what you're saying. I ride every day in a city that is scary enough to drive a cage in. There is road rage everywhere, but the stand outs get extra attention, like the on the op posted.

I belong to another bike forum and have been a member for like 12 years. There are a surprising number of members who ride strapped or carry shit like big washers, marbles, or a padlock, etc., stuff to throw over their shoulders onto aggressive drivers windshields (technique learned from old school bikers). They've also perfected the technique for using armored gloves to knock mirrors off cars or how to use racing boots to dent up the side of a cage. I never did any of that shit. I've learned to ride semi aggressively but in a preventive/defensive manner. But, I feel that eggs on aggressive drivers too, as in "I'm gonna catch that fucker!" kind of a thing. I have a friend who when we were first getting to know each other told me how angry sportbike riders made her. She is as sweet as pie, too. She told me that when she sees a bike weaving in and out of traffic while she is stuck in her car, she feels like "Who the hell does he think he is?!?". She added that she wished she could block the path of a bike because she didn't want the rider to get ahead of her! I was like, Holy shit, that's fucking nuts! It makes sense to me now.

Drivers are envious or threatened by our speed and maneuverability, i.e. freedom. Remember the fireside conversation between Fonda and Nicholson in Easy Rider?
