Beat The Clock

Re: 360 bobber/Brat new tires update

only reason i would sugest it is with the added lenght to the swing arm and the shock angle, it could not hurt. you have to remember a stock bike woud have the battry box, rear support and the the stamped metal there as well as support. that is just my guess though :)

Re: 360 bobber/Brat new tires update

actually I think it might be a good idea to have something there until I cut off what's there and weld back in the new hoop. It probably wouldn't go anywhere but once it gets heat put to during welding who knows. I may just tack in a support and cut it back out when done.

Re: 360 beat the clock update 01/22/10

Got the shocks today and all I can say is Kiley rocks. Brand new and really sweet! They are perfect. I may end up sending them to Joe for some powder but they will ride just perfect. Kiley I'm forever in debt brother! You rock buddy!

Decided how to do the frame. I used a dremmel and cut off wheel to cut the tubing and the 3/8" flat into a nice U shape. I'll bend a piece of 3/8x1" flat to the same U shape and weld it in caping off the tubing and creating a small I (mostly L brace) brace. I may end up adding another 1" flat in front of the already 3/8" flat that connects the two seat rails. Man i have tons of room now. I don't think I'll use the tubing idea because I like how clean this will look.

Re: 360 beat the clock update 01/22/10

Looks good Troy. Looks like you gained some clearance by doing it that way. What shocks are those that you have on there now? They look like the ones I have on mine. I'm still wondering if I should move my top shock mounts on mine, thats why I was curious if you have the same shocks. Mine is ok the way it is, but I just don't know if I like how the rear of the frame looks where it is cut off. I like yours how the frame ends where the seat rails and tubes coming up meet.

Light looks good on there too!

Re: 360 beat the clock update 01/22/10

I don't know what to look at more: the bike or the rider? LOL TOO MESMERIZING!

Troy this beast is coming along way. Your build is like the Harry Potter series, but in a good way!!! One is never finished with modifying. I think it looked perfect before but I guess perfect can be surpassed!

Keep it up man.

Re: 360 beat the clock update 01/22/10

Looks good Troy! The way you are holding the light looks like the way you caress a titty! Sexy. Just kidding. It looks great actually and should work with the bike well.

Re: 360 beat the clock update 01/22/10

Hell yes brother! That is where it's at!!!! I can't believe how good that looks! New light, bars, and shocks. I see where this thing wants to be now! Good job bud! I'm stoked for you! 8)

Re: 360 beat the clock update 01/22/10

You guys are too awesome! Thank you all so much for the kind words. I feel so blessed to have the DTT family to turn to! I really mean that! I love being around positive people and you guys exemplify what DTT is all about! This bike wouldn't be near what it is without all all of you. From the bottom of my heart I Thank You!

Re: 360 beat the clock update 01/22/10

Ok now that is out of the way...
Cthor: I can't remember what the shocks are off of. For some reason I want to say 750 lowering shocks?? Hey Kanticoy can you help us out?
I know what you are saying about the back end of the frame Corey. I struggled for ideas before I came up with what I did. I'll give you a pm and give you a couple of ideas.

Goodfornothing: you are always a blessing brother I love your positive attitude! I'm so glad you are liking it! And Bro, flattering comments about the rider will always worth extra points ;D

Maritime: I really wish we lived closer. It would be so cool to be able to wrench with you guys! I really think the light works well with the bike too. I'm glad you dig it! And I guess when you spend to much time in the garage the first thing that resembles a titty you gotta caress it a little ;D

Kanticoy: you just suck. The shocks suck and I wish you would take them back! ...NOT.... Hey brother, from the bottom of my heart man I can't say enough!

Re: 360 beat the clock update 01/22/10

Well in that case you suck too man!!

Just kidding bro, and any time at all! With swagger hooking me up with those manifolds, at least now I feel like I've partially reimbursed the pay it forward gods!

And you would be right. They were advertised on eBay as "universal Honda lowering shocks". I just saw that they were eye to clevis and picked them up. That was way back before I knew what the hell I was doing when building cafes and of course they were too low! So they sat in a box until BTC needed 'em!!!

Re: 360 beat the clock update 01/22/10

Cool, so those sounds like the same shocks that I have now then. I'll have to get back out to the garage and mock up how it would sit if I were to move the mounts. Now that I have my seat all ready to bolt on I can check all the clearances and make a final decision.

Re: 360 beat the clock update 01/22/10

What brand shocks? They are really neat looking. Are they maxed out or is the spring tight like that?

Maybe drop the headlight a touch?

Id ditch the honda stator cover too. This bike deserves a custom touch down there. I think the cover is noticed more as the headlight is the same diameter? maybe? I love picking apart design in my head.

Those photos rock. Its good to see the bike with you on it. Really brings it all together. Nice helmet!

Keep on rockin

Re: 360 beat the clock update 01/22/10

Looking good brother! I was thinking the same thing on the seat.... It flows much more evenly that way. Good show!

I totally digg that headlight as well. Torpedo style... Just like the bike. Can't wait to see it mounted up.

You should ditch the side mounting brackets and use some 3/16" rod with thick washers TIG'd on each end to make a semi-invisible set of stays. If you didn't shave them off your tree, you can use those two little mounting tabs that sick off along with the mounts on the bottom of the risers and do a flying V out to the sides/bottom of the light.

I had it on the Black Bobber for a while and it was simply smashing! Looked like the light was just hanging out there. Right now my eye is distracted by the brackets.

Just a thought...

Looking great Troy! I cant wait to see this sunnabitch in person.

Re: 360 beat the clock update 01/22/10

I don't know how you keep improving this thing, but every time I look you are doing something new. Keep fine tuning, the bike is looking incredible.

Re: 360 beat the clock update 01/22/10

Hey Troy:

the bike is looking good as always. When you notched out the rear support, just bend a strip if 3/16" thick steel and weld it in I think that should be more than enough bracing. I really wish I were there so I could lay a tiny bead, but you should be fine. Just try to limit the sparks off the welder.

Is the swing arm holding up OK? You're checking that for cracks aren't you?

--Thanks, Chris

Re: 360 beat the clock update 01/22/10

All of you guys are awesome. I really appreciate the kind words. Things are a little crazy right now so I hope to come back in a couple of days and give a more thorough response. I think you guys have some good ideas and I appreciate each and every one of you. I hope to come back to the bike when I'm set to wrap my brain with bike stuff. Until then, I've been busy dealing with new family members and probably will be for the next couple of days.
Early yesterday morning I received an email from a wonderful lady who informed me that she watched our farm videos on my myspace account and wanted me to take in her entire herd of Llamas. She said that she wanted "her babies" to live on our farm (her words). She didn't want to take anything for them she just wanted them to have a nice safe and loving home. I have been looking for another female to pasture with our lone female but they are hard to find and are usually very expensive. Wanda's herd consisted of 4 females and two males of show quality. Some of the animals came from California. She told me that her hired care takers were taking advantage of her and now she is going through a divorce and her heart has been broken looking for the right home for her herd.

Needless to say our family grew very fast. I spent the day yesterday with a small borrowed horse trailer making trips to her farm (about 3 hr round trip each trip). She had an awesome farm. Talk about sweet, the barn had an apartment for the caretakers, a complete riding arena, and about 60 horse stalls. Anyhow, I have a hell of a bunch of work to do to make room. Today I moving fences and gates and building new fences. I'll be busy for awhile but man are we happy. Most of my animals were rescues and it took forever for them to warm up to us. These guys are so easy and are awesomly sweet. We are so blessed!... A couple of pics from last night.
