You know what.... I think your right. Your bike does need some huge tires!

Was that the encouragement your needed to get your wallet to open?

In all seriousness I do think the tires would look great on your bike, and If you come across "huge tires" that work on stock cb750f rims, then let me know. Then you can tell me I need huge tires.

IMO only one way to find out if it mucks up the handling - try it out!

I'm going the same way with my project too.

msimm you need some of the most ungodly huge tires in the absolute worst way.

Sorry, I am a natural enabler. ;)

where would i start looking for info on those tires? i tried google to no avail and the search on dtt didnt lead anywhere either...

Looks pretty beefy... ...and easy on the wallet.

i have a k70 as my back tire and it doesn't have nearly the look of the firestones, it just looks like an older motorcycle tire

No, it probably isn't as beefy as a Firestone which probably belongs on some Indian or Harley. The K70 is the kind of tire actually run on a cafe bike in the 60s and 70s, because it was what was OEM on the Triumphs and BSAs. The really trick tires, but skinnier yet were the K81s with the triangular tred. Both the K70s and K81s are available at KK Cycle Supply in Dayton Ohio.

If you want authentic Cafe those are the tires. Repops of the real thing, but with a current improved compound. If you want fat do whatever you please.

You bet they're going to hose up your handling. I went one size larger front tire on a MotoGuzzi 850 T going from a 100 to a 110 and the thing handled like a truck. If you want it to work decently either go stock front and maybe a 120 on the back, but no more.

If you want better handing and to play from there, do what the vintage racers are doing. Put on some 17s. I've seen a number of the guys in the AMA Vintage superbike classes running them. You can go wider tires and get a bit beefier looking while improving handling with the lower profile and lower aspect ratio. Lace up some wider 17" rims and run a 150-160/70-17 rear and a 120/70-17

If you just want the looks do the fat donuts like on that KZ. They won't be good for much of anything other than cushioning bumps and putting on an image though, unless you do what it takes to get the chassis to handle with them on it.

BTW: that bike you have posted has
Standard hubs, stainless steel spokes, borani style rims.
2.15 x 18 front - 2.15 x 18 rear.
Dunlop tyres 4.00 x 18 front and rear
according to the website of the builder.

except that the pics show that they have pirelli tires on it.

That's pretty funny - the guys who built it don't even know what tyres are on it :D

I bet they think it handles great too..... ::)

FYI

I have not tried these but I will likely use them very soon!

The picture on that link is a bit misleading - they are only available in 3.25 x 19.....which is pretty skinny...

I've got Duro tyres on my XT500 commuter - they're not a bad tyre for the money ;D

I just ordered the duro classic 4.0x18 for both the front and back. Should be here by the end of the week if Fed x doesnt screw me. I'm pretty stoked.

NO SH T!

I was asking about that tire before with no responses. I'm really interested to see what it looks like, because even the Duro website shows a different tread pattern than American Motorcycle Tire.

I'll have to check that out. You pointing to the link is what led me to these tires in the first place. But then again, who cares. My tires are 34 years old. I'll just bet what ever these are they'll handle a tad bit better ;D

The tires on the wrenchmonkee are actually the pirelli MT43
