Been a hell of a nice last couple days :)

bad assed, super fast and fully gassed
And Ive managed to put over 280 miles on my newtome 82 GS1100G. After a day one snag of shaftie woes, its been one hell of a runner! This thing has balls for days. Only problem ive had was day one, coming back into town from an afternoon of country roadedness, my inner hub gear spat a couple of bolt heads inside the wheel, and more or less trashed the wheel gear, and the wheel itself. Luckily a fellow GSR to the rescue lent me a spare wheel off his 81 850G, and with a couple of spacer adjustments to realign the brake rotor, im back on the road. Its not cafe by anymeans, but man its one hell of a wonderfull machine! Today i put down just over a hundred miles on it, just seeking out the tightest country road turns i could find to get more aquainted with its handling characteristics. The shaftie is a bit of an odd beast in the turns. If you get a lil hot in a corner and lift off the throttle, the rear end wants to lift quite a bit more than its chain drive counterparts. Ive found the best way to keep the tail tucked is to steady the throttle and scrub off speed with the rear brake, trail braking a bit, to keep that rear down. Takes a bit of getting used to, as none of my chain drive bikes have ever had such an odd wish to transfer weight as much, but it certainly has the guts to stick in there. I've experienced none of the dreaded "shaft jacking" that alot of guys complain about with shaft driven bikes. I have ridden a couple other shafties, but this the first ive owned, and i have indeed felt a bit of that rear "hop" they tend to have, but not from this one, at least not so far.

Cant wait for tomorrow to get back out there!

Slainte and See you Ohio DTT brothers on the road hopefully!
