Benjie glass tank, savable or garbage?

I have a Benjie fiberglass tank that I got a few years back. I love the style of this tank but have had miserable luck getting it sealed. Tried caswell and herschel and both failed.
Does anyone have any last ditch ideas to save this tank or should I make a lamp out of it?

Thanks
Patrick

I'm in the same predicament. I started with POR-15 with no luck. I got as much of it out as I could and have now gone to Caswell. Just poured it in last night and planning to put gas in it on Friday. Hopefully all goes well. I'll let you know in a couple of weeks. Just FYI: I plan to use non-ethanol fuel from now on to reduce the chances failure.

why not some resin or even a new layer of fiberglass on the outside?
It needs to be sealed. Ethanol eats glass like it's a well prepared Eggs Benedict.

Some manufacturers make claims of using "ethanol proof" resin. But, I've a hand full of tanks to contradict those claims.

The bottom of my fibreglass 71 Norton tank leaks gas like a piece of Swiss cheese.

I figured it couldn't be that easy

Why not seal it with what they use in aircraft tanks......that will do the trick

A variety of sealers here https://www.aircraftspruce.ca/menus/cs/fueltanksealants.html

I'll second Red-Kote. I've had great luck with it. I get it at my local O'Relly's. You have to ask for it, though. They keep it in the back.

According to their webpage, Red-Kote is for metal tanks only.
I believe that's because they don't want to warranty the application. Everyone I know that's used it on glass have had great success, including myself.

Would you recommend that I try it over top of the Caswell that I've already used? I haven't put any gas in the tank yet.
