Best route to Satin black wheels....

Another newbie question I'm sure......

I'm after a complete satin black wheel set up on my CB450. Now being used to ally wheel setups where a quick powder coat and job done whats my options.

I would think powder the rim and hub but what about the spoke holes will they be ok, do they need drilling out?? What about matching the spokes as they seem to be only available in a steel finish.

Is painting a complete wheel an option although I can't imagine its best finish and pretty dodgy fitting tyres on......???

So many questions I'm sure theres one simple answer!

Cheers Adam.

You are going to have to take the wheel apart and powdercoat.

You can powdercoat it all together, but it's not ideal because if you want to balance and true later it will all get messed up.

Yeh thats cool the wheels are stripped any way I don't seem to be able to find any spokes in a black finish or am I just not looking in the right places.

If you're doing alloy wheels anyhow, can you do a bead-blasted anodized finish? Lotta AL mountain bike frames are finished that way. Tough and nice and satin-y.

Real bad idea coating an assembled spoke wheel. Where ever the spokes cross each other many times they actually touch each other. The crossovers will fuse together, the nipples will fuse to the rim and the spoke. When you ride it all those fusions will break free and start rusting or corroding. Truing/tightening becomes impossible.
