???

So this is my dilemma, I have both available to me at good prices ..

1974 CB750 $850 OBO and the 1979 CM400 $300 OBO ..

Now as I see them the CM400 is cheaper and easer to find stock parts as well in better condition..
But there seems to be more after market cafe parts for the CB750 .. Please help

Or should I just get them both and basterdize the 2 together ..

Thanks in advanced for the Help.

Im not sure if that statement is necessarily true. There are a TON of cb750s out there as well as parts. They are very different bikes, I say dont base your decision off of part availability, go with what you like and what is in better condition. If you're going to put all of this work into it, then i say you should go with a bike that you'll be happy with.

cb750, for my vote.

I went from a cm400 cafe, to a cb750 cafe. Now on to a cb360 lol. Whatever comes along cheaply.
They are all fun in there on way. I enjoy building them and riding them and wish I could keep them all but no room right now.
I think the cb makes a "cooler" cafe bike, but the cm was just a little easier to work on, or any twin for that matter.
This also depends on what year of each and which model cm400, A,C,E or T.

Also, buying both and restoring the better of the two cheaply and selling for more will help fund the other one.
I did that with the cm. used the spare parts off the project bike to make a nicer restored bike and completely funded both bikes from that one sale.

My vote was for the 750, I am building a 74 right now. I have a CL350 as well but I like the 750 for its versatility; great top end and no issues on the freeway. Parts are VERY available and when you lighten them up they are a really fun bike to ride.

In the end go with what fits you and your tastes, in my book any bike has its benefits.

I've got a 79 CM400T in the process of being converted. Not having too many problems finding parts for it. While it's fun to ride, it's not the fastest bike around. The 750 might be a bit quicker. On the other hand the CM400 is a twin and will have far fewer parts, so it would probably be cheaper to run and a little easier to work on. A smaller displacement bike should also be cheaper to insure. See which is more comfortable.
