BIG cafe racers??

lately i've been having the urge to do a bigger bike project with cafe racer style when my cb500t project is finished. i would really like to do something 900cc plus. i really like the look of the old gl1000's (goldwings) when they are done up with cafe style. what other bikes would be good candidates? i would also consider an 80's muscle bike to make into a streetfighter/cafe style bike. i'm open to any suggestions.

oh yeah, the reason i'm considering this is because the cb500t isn't very comfortable once i get out of the city with it and it doesn't pull me and my fiancee as well (comfortably) as i would like.

thanks!

I've been lusting after a TR1 for a long time but I could live with a Regular Virago with a little work......

More on this one here if you can stand the shitty attitudes:

Depends on what if anything you want with it...have lots of spares.

Just for the bike.........$1800 OBO or interesting trades.

Since this pic I have removed the rear fender and grab rail....it has good tires....progressive front and rear...cams....ceramic coated headers.......and 1000 pistons. Reliable bike.

Bit pricey for what I have in mind.

Could you send me a couple pictures of how you sorted the rear fender? A friend is building a Midnight virago into a bobber and would need a fender of some kind.

the z1, kz900, and kz1000 from the 1970s is a good base. a lot of easy parts interchangeabiltiy makes for a good standard, touring, cafe or drag bike. heres a cafe pic from the internet . looks like a basic kz1000 LTD with a corbin seat:
