Have a 76 kz400, wonderin if anyone knows what the biggest size rear tire I can get without doing any fabbing. I know I wont be able to go too much moe from stock but Im just wondering if anyone knows the biggest(widest) I can go or know of a way to calculate it.
110/90-18 is approximately the stock size rear, depending on the manufacturer. On the Kawasaki Twins Owners Forum (http://www.armbell.com/forum/index.php?mforum=kz400) I have seen others use 120s on the stock rim. I believe someone put a 130 on the stock rim too, but it didn't look right - looked huge as a matter of fact. Others have also run a later KZ440 16" rear with its stock 130. If I remember correctly that was about the most you could easily go without making some sort of alteration. But I wouldn't put a 130 on the stock rim and I probably wouldn't put a 120 on it either for that matter.
I didnt think I could have gotten more than 130 anyways, I may try a 120 just to see how it feels. I have good tires on it now, just wanting to update the rubber. Want a good performance tire for cheap.
