So I woke up this morning to my 83 GS650 on its side, on the side walk!!! The tire tracks on the lawn tell me either some idiot hit it, or some asshole tried to steal it and failed. Luckily, I have done nothing to the bike yet (doesn't even run) so I don't care that it got a little scratched, but they cracked the freakin generator cover!! Just another part I have to buy.....damn it.

Thanks. Not a HUGE deal, just pissed that I had to buy another part. There was a oil all over the sidewalk, but at least the oil change is half done now... HA!

That sucks. At least you still have the bike though, and like you said, the oil change is already started.

Imagine being that thief hahah.
"Fucking thing won't start!"
Must have been frustrating.

That sucks though man I'm glad they didn't get away with it

That sucks man, good thing it didnt get too mesed up. btw if you haven't bought the part already, I have the generator cover from a 1982 GS650G that you can have.

I'll take it! Where are you located?

PM me.

Update: after further investigation, it looks like some drunk ass clipped the tail and too off. I can imagine he/she is having just as bad of a day as I am.

"Why is my car messed up?!?"

Call the police and make a report. On the off chance they catch the fucker, you may be able to sue for damage and pain/suffering ;)

I did call the cops, but as expected they won't do anything. Chicago Police are the worst when it comes to non-emergency calls.

police here are so busy they give you a business card with a report number scratched on the back.sometimes they dont show up until the next day.i chased my own car down the street a few years ago, never got it back so its nice to hear the dirtbag didnt make off with your scoot

Bike thieves (even unsuccessful ones) have got to be one of the lower forms of life on this planet.

Umm surely unsuccessful bike thieves are lower than successful ones though... I mean if you're gonna be an idiot at least be a successful one!

Got it all fixed! Works just fine.....minus the fact I need to rejet it....

Thanks again to TOAST for the magneto cover!
