just finshed my 75 XS650....basically the bike was built from the ground up sparing no expense. motor got new internals, new tires, rims. spokes, you get the idea.. ;D
yes the pipes are hand-made from SS. If your intrested I can give you the contact info for the fella who did the work. they came out really good and fit like a glove. I was going to ceramic coat them, but i'm really starting to like the gold tint from the heat.
Are those Shinko tires, if not what are they! I was just looking the other day at some tires and remember the tread but forgot which ones they were! I wanted to see them on a bike! I like them!
thanks fella's.... wasn't really trying to nominate myself, just tried to get people's attention... the tires on the bike are the bridgestone spitfires... they handle great and give that vintage feel. I got the front and rear for about 160$ and shipping was free..
the exhaust does'n't burn my leg, I still have plans to get it ceramic coated. for the most part she is pretty much done... maybe some rearsets and tank pads but i'm stll up in the air.
Awsome build, There is a lot to take in. it's simple yet unique. Heck I'll nominate you or second you at any time. I also second that question on whoever build your exhaust and would like a price. I would definetly purchase a set like what you have. I also have a question on the headlight bucket, what brand model is it? same with the headlight bucket brackets, are those tomasellis? Your seat cowl, where did you get that? I don't know if your frame is as wide as my 73 which is about 10" widemaybe 9 and 3/4" but I can't find a fiberglass seat that will fit my XS650 (TX650) So i was wondering where you got your from, maybe they have other models but same width?
The only thing i would (not change) modify on the bike are the gauges. The brackets are mounted on top of the tripple tree holes, I would mount them under instead of on top. I did that to my Mike xs gauges and made the whole front of the bike look beter and i can still see the gauges great. The way they are mounted right now makes the gauges look like they are sticking out too far. Just a sugestion.
Oh and another prop, is that i like how the cylinder head is silver instead of flat black or black like everyone elses and your vave adjustment covers are black instead. i think that is a nice touch on your bike.
Overall another great xs650 on a great site such as this.
Thanks for the tire info! Rear sets, a must! I am not sure how you ride very long with that peg position and clip-ons! Bad news is that your pipes may not burn you now, but they are dumping right at you ankle if you have rear sets on it! Too bad too because those pipes look killer. You might could just shorten them up to where they end above where the current peg is and have the turn-outs turn out a little more.
Nice bike though and very clean!
Did you have a build thread? If not do you have pics of it during the build?

the headlight and brackets are from mikesxs. i did not flare the pipes at the end. the builder did that. the seat and cowl are from OMARSDTR.COM...(it's not cheap but the quailty is top-notch)... right now i'mnot having any problems with the clipons and the stock pedals.. I still might go the the rearsets... TCBROS just put out an updated version of rearsets.
great idea on the gauges.. still don't know how that would work. the underside of the top tree is not flat. any suggestions.

Hmmm. Is there a way to remove it and grind it flat in that area, on my bike in which I did that it was already flat right under the tripple tree. I would probably grind that area flat under there dude. Your bike still looks excellent . I love it. Thanks so much for sharing that info about the seat and headlight, etc. I'm very grateful...
