Black Falcon

Oh to get my grubby little hands on a vincent, even just the engine would make me happy for life...

seen this already, amazing build. falcon motorcycles cranks out some top notch work.

Yup - no doubt. I've been a long time fan, but wanted to make sure others had the opportunity to see what can be done with an amazing vision and top-notch fabrication skills.

The combination of my favorite bike of all time (the Black Shadow) and quite possibly the builder whos design sense I may respect the most out of pretty much all the guys/gals out there today (Ian Berry), just made my whole week. That is now, hands down, without a doubt, 100%, fo sheezy, my favorite custom motorcycle of all time.

And Im one of those d-bags who thinks that the remaining Black Shadows should be left in factory trim. ;)

So, they say that there were 6 guys working on the bike full time for a year. If they worked a standard 8hr day (we know they worked more) this bike has nearly 2500 hrs in it. That is mind blowing. So, if they were paid an average of $30 an hour thats $75000 in labor alone. Not to mention the other overhead, and material cost. Absolutly insane.

i was doing some of the same math in my head when i saw it. it's a great looking bike, but the practical (ie. poor) side of me just doesn't understand that. i guess someone out there has the money and desire to buy that, but i can't imagine there's too big of a market for it. cause with your figure, we haven't even talked about electric bills, rent, tools, etc.

Honestly, I wouldnt be suprised to see that bike sell for an easy $150,000 to some rock star, or Middle East oil tycoon. I dont know how they go about selling their bikes. I know Jason Lee (the actor) owns the first one the built, which though truly beautiful, doesnt hold a candle to this one. It seems to me that to be able to comfortably invest that much time and money into 10 custom motorcycles you would have to have interested parties already lined up and putting down large deposits. Hell, just the beat up Vincent donor bike for the Black Falcon was probobly and easy $10,000.

From what I understand, the Black Falcon was sold before it was completed. Falcon has done a really great job with getting their brand out there with great marketing and promotion. All of their videos are well done and, well, just flat out make me wanna ride. If I had hundreds of thousands of dollars to throw around, I still probably wouldn't buy a finished bike like this, but I have to say I think it's a beautiful machine.

I really like all the adjustability of all the bits and pieces. Very clever.

I have to give it up to Ian, he not only figured out one of the greatest ways of making good money from motorcycles, but he does it in a way very unique way. Not to mention he is guaranteeing that his bikes will only rise in value through the years.

What I find mind blowing is that it looks to be a functional piece of art. Very rare. Yeah, if I had giga-bucks I'd buy.

X10

Vincent chopped up.
I hate to say it, but I actually like it ???
I really hope he starts buying NEW Vincent parts from Australia instead of cutting up the originals (cases, etc have been available since the 70's, I believe everything is now available to make a brand new '1955' motor?)
