the ones on your bike looks like it has adjusters to preload the springs, from what i can see in the photo, the stock ones dont have preload adjusters.

... you're right, they do have preload adjusters (but didn't come with any tool to help me adjust it). Maybe it's something they've changed on the newer bikes?

New exhaust sounds great, desperately thinking of garage things I can flog to afford that and a new pair of tyres...

If you can't get both at the same time, upgrade your tires first. The standard ones are just not safe...

Do the original tyres have inner tubes fitted? Do new tyres require inner tubes?

You need to use inner tubes, because of the type of spoke wheel used.
If you upgrade the tires, get new inner tubes as well, just to be on the safe side :)

Thanks. What are the original tyres like to use on a dry road surface?

ive done 3700km on the stock tyres and they need replacing as the depth is at min depth.
as for handling , the stock tyre side walls are soft, so you get understeer as you go into corners, but ive done hard breaking on mine to test it out and i got the back wheel nearly off the ground and the front tyre or back didnt lock up at all, they wear quick and have no feel in corners, but are ok under brakes.
but keep an eye on the air, they tend to go down slowly over a couple of months theu loose a few psi, and that really effects the steering response.

What are you running the tyre pressures at? I went to see my Ace on Saturday and paid the dealer, hopefully it will be with me at the weekend.

Running a pair of Michelin Pilot Sporty tyres on my ACE and have to report that it definitely runs far better on these than the stock OE tyres especially at high speed, and gives far more confidence in the corners and in damp conditions. Have fitted Crazy's suggested M10 x 25 Nut / Bolt spacers on the front forks but not had the chance to find out the handling difference yet as it started to pour with rain before I had finished! Just coming up to 3000Km's on mine now and looking forward to some drier Spring weather here in the UK.

Hi Herbert, I have put the homemade spacers in the front forks. Rode it around for a bit in potholed UK and found that you should replace the fork oil with heavier grade as well due to forks having more rebound, but spacers do make a good difference. Tad.

Thought I'd just add a couple of photos of where I like to ride my Ace, When it's not in use as a race track it's open as a public road.

i run around 38psi but the owners book says about 33 (225kpa) dont go much higher then 38, the tubes in the ace might not like it

Hi Hazza, the screen came with the Ace when I bought it s/h.
I've tried getting in touch with former owner to find out where it's from but he doesn't reply.

... looks really nice. Good compromise between a half fairing and nothing ... does it make a difference when riding on the motorway (wind buffer) or mainly cosmetic?

I don't ride it on motorways, it's twisty A and B roads around where I am (N, Yorkshire UK). If I wear open faced helmet you can feel the wind deflected upwards. But it does look period.
