To me paint things black means you didn't care enough to polish it, or your trying to hide the dirt...some of these old bike have cases that are so stained that paint is the only answer....I can understand..my current build is polished with a silver painted casing coming this weekend and polished raw metal expansion chambers that I am building myself...I polish all my aluminum bits I make myself too...I like shiny things!
Wet sanded the covers and polished everything with a converted bench grinder. I looked the method up online and went through the process using polishing rouge and elbow grease.
