Re: Blake's 1971 CB350 Cafe Racer w/ Lots of pics!
Gotta say I agree with Joe. Once you get the angular seat on the same level as the tank it will look too short. I say rock the round one. Besides your tank is so curvy, it'd look better with roundness instead of angular-ness. My .02 for what it's worth.

Also Revamping the foam...i started to see how bad it looks... looking at it more closely i trimed a few lines down..with a marker...what do you guys think?
Re: Blake's 1971 CB350 Cafe Racer w/ Lots of pics!
Just ordered my exhaust hope it gets here in a few days! then i slap that on... with my exhaust rings, get some internal mufflers and clean my gas tank and we can start the tuning/jetting.
Although it has not been confirmed, aluminum was/is thought to possibly cause Alzheimer's Disease. Polishing aluminum creates very fine particles that are inhaled, thats the black snot that you refereed to. Whether its true or not, I throw on a mask when polishing now, there cheap! So why risk it?! And glasses! if you use a wire wheel to clean anything with that same wheel that your polishing with in your picture, you will definitely get shit in ur eyes. I had a single wire fly off the wheel and stick in the plastic lens of my glasses while cleaning a part!
Seat Idea looks good Blake, im lookin forward to see how it comes out.

Thats how it goes with traffic on a thread. Usually big progress updates yield more comments/input. I think you got a little spoiled, your first post was on Dec 22, and you already have 2,362 views! Keep at it dude!
Re: Blake's 1971 CB350 Cafe Racer w/ Lots of pics!
I like the round seat better out of the two IMO. U plan on running with your side covers on or off? R u keeping the battery in the stock location or relocating? I'm in the process of fiber glassing my seat on my build thread, I just used the home depot 3m resin and bought 2 packs of the fiberglass cloth. First coat is dry, rock hard and very tough. I made a rounded seat big enough for my battery and all electronics. I like a clean tubular open air look. So my vote goes to rounded.
Re: Blake's 1971 CB350 Cafe Racer w/ Lots of pics!
keeping the battery box where it is until i finish the bike. im using the squarish seat because thats what i like... but im running side covers off with pod filters... so itll look fine... ill probably fab up something for a cover to disguise my battery box.
Re: Blake's 1971 CB350 Cafe Racer w/ Lots of pics!
Don't listen to Rocan - there's a very good chance that 90 percent of the people that see your bike in person will have never seen EITHER seat shape.
But I do agree about the square-ish seat. It's easier to mount, easier to hide square things underneath (battery for one), and the tail light / license plate will be easier to mount too. As far as the battery box goes......no matter what you do it will still be a battery box. As long as it's not a rusted eye sore, go for it.
