blinkers blink together?

My friend brought me his bike and he changed his front headlight to a cheap ebay one with integrated turn signals. I hooked the wires up just as the wiring diagram says using the green connections as grounds and using the appropriate light blue and orange wires. The signals will blink but when i turn the switch either right or left both signals blink together. Anyone have any clues as to why? i cant think of any reasons why this is happening

Maybe you switched the ground wires? Each signal needs to be on a separate 'hot' wire and if you have a common ground they could both be going on at the same time.

Had the same problem.

Are the blinker bulbs LED or low wattage by any chance and does that bike have a single blinker idiot light that works for both sides (the circuit diagram says it does)?

If so you need a pair of diodes or buy a blinker diode wire thingie from Sonreir on his Sparckmoto.com web site. It's an LED Diode kit and it's really cost effective.

Blinker diode pigtail from sparckmoto. Because the turn signal indicator alternates grounds through the turn signals, you need a diode because of the reduced power consumption. Should probably get a new led compatible blinker relay from them, because of the same reason
