So picked up the attached Gem for a decent price 2 weeks ago.

Background, guy bought it from a buddy for his daughter or some BS and ended up she didn't like it. Original owner was this now 85 year old guy who last had it tagged and on the road in 03.

When I bought it took a gamble as the gas tank wouldn't open. Would crank but not start. Current owner had not tagged it but had it sitting since the fall after an oil change and few rides.

BUT- Clean and Clear Title.

Got it home. Dropped some oil in the key hole and let it sit.

Tank popped open no issues, no rust in tank (bonus). Checked the oil at right level and not tar pit.

Decided to dump some gas in and see if it would fire up.

battery seemed shot so threw it on a tender and let it rock.

Ended up getting it to fire and run if holding choke and manipulating throttle however couldn't get it to idle. Next step is to pull the carbs, do a small cleaning and see if I could get it around the block to see if there are any other issues.

Once I know the engine is solid I will start the tear down and go from there.

Immediate thoughts-
- modern forks and dual discs. Did a basic search and know that its a possibility but something that is not too difficult
-cafe looks, seat, bars, mirrors yada yada
-hid conversion
-exhaust
-new seals where needed.
-KBS the tank
-Paint
-rear shocks
-bigger rear wheel (tires)
-New wheels and spokes

Biggest change and most difficult will be modern front forks and resulting wheel choices. Any input help/how to's on the most simple modern fork swap would be appreciated.
