BMW R100s cafe 1978 - Yay or Nay?!

This might be the one. I'm pretty excited getting this beemer coming from a bimmer. I'd just like to know my fellow members input. On my search for a cafe racer, I've only had my eyes on Japanese bikes but this one popped up and to me it seems like a good deal.

My first question is if it is even worth the price. I managed to talk it down to $2200.
Secondly, how reliable are Euro bikes compared to Japanese bikes?
And lastly, what are the maintenance and modification costs compared to Japanese bikes?

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

If it has a service history and less than 150,000 miles, it will be fine
They are OK to about 200,000 if treated right but smoke a bit last 20,000 ;)
I've worked on a few with 120~170,000 miles on them

That's a great looking bike. If I was on the Left coast I'd buy it! I know lots of Bimmer guys who love their bikes and find them very reliable. Vintage NOS parts can be costly but it doesn't look like you'd need OEM style parts anyway.

Thanks guys. I'm just figuring the ins and outs with him and if everything goes well, I'll be picking it up before next week.
