I've just acquired a a '79 R45 and it has a damaged front-brake master cylinder. The reservoir & cap are fire damaged and it really doesn't look like it'll hold fluid well.
What are my options apart from an expensive replacement?
The cap looks worse than it is. The real problem is the reservoir. Also, i'm pretty certain an overhaul kit is needed for the piston as there is crystalised fluid blocking everything.
I've had a look on ebay and yep, there are quite a few. I might do some surgery on the remains and remove the lever+cylinder section as I need the twistgrip and kill-switch.
Well, I found a complete right-hand control on ebay for £70. Plan was to do a swap but during assembly I realised I had bought a single-pull instead of a double.
I repainted the old-control and fitted the "new" cylinder. Waiting on a braided hose and should have ait bled by next week.
