Bought a Shorai battery

Slantyface

Been Around the Block
Bought a Shorai battery yesterday, just gotta say, this thing is awesome. Super light, durable shell, you can put it on its side...this thing seems pretty sweet. Anybody else have any experience with them?

Your charging system needs to be dead reliable. Over or undercharge and its toast.

Good to know! I've been familiar with these for a little while and had no idea you could fry them. At least they have a good warranty!

REad this on the shorai site.

especially read this FAQ:
Q. Can I use Lead-Acid battery chargers or charger/tenders?

Look at the chart... These batteries will not last if allowed to go dead. Dead is below 12.86 volts, which is higher voltage than a fully charged lead acid, which is fully charged at 12.6 volts.

Any problems with the charging system, or allowing the battery to drop vbelow 12.86 volts will kill it. They work, but a lot differently then the standard batteries. Search around and you will see a lot of sad stories of expensive batteries going to the landfill.
